The Scalar Potential is a Rapid-Fire Pulse Rifle from Season of the Wish that quickly became a popular weapon among Destiny 2‘s PvP fans. While it’s not exactly mind-blowing when it comes to PvE, the Scalar Potential can easily out-duel Guardians thanks to its generous suite of perks.

Fans of the Crucible have a lot to look forward to with the Scalar Potential. This isn’t the first time that a Rapid-Fire Pulse Rifle took the crown of best dueling weapon in the game, but many Guardians will be happy to know that god rolls of this gun are sitting on a comfortable spot within the Destiny 2 PvP meta.

The Max Consistency roll for the Scalar Potential fully commits to making the weapon excel in duels. Keep Away negates the range penalty from Steady Rounds while providing extra Reload Speed and better weapon accuracy if no players are nearby. Meanwhile, Headseeker makes Scalar Potential very forgiving by increasing the Precision Hit damage and accuracy of the next burst after hitting a body shot. This roll has a maximum effective range of 32.68 meters, which is fairly standard for this archetype of weapon.

On the other hand, the Max Lethality roll focuses on aggression. If you can weave grenade or ability kills together with normal weapon kills, Scalar Potential can reach an optimal TTK of 0.47 seconds from up to 33.32 meters away thanks to Golden Tricorn. This translates to a two-burst-kill on max Resilience Guardians, assuming all shots are Precision Hits. Enlightened Action will help keep killstreaks going thanks to its Reload Speed bonus, and the extra Handling can make the gun feel snappier while also boosting weapon swap speeds in case the situation calls for a quick shotgun blast.

Destiny 2: Optative God Rolls Guide

The Optative returns in Destiny 2 Season of the Wish with a fresh pool of perks, including some excellent combos for PvE and PvP.

Unfortunately, the Scalar Potential is easily overshadowed by a ton of other weapons in PvE. The Max Lethality roll can be decent, but it pales in comparison to the majority of meta PvE primary weapon picks like Rufus’ Fury, Sunshot, or Wish-Ender. Players are free to take it in Strikes or other low-difficulty missions, but for more difficult content like Grandmaster Nightfalls and Raids, they’re better off using something else.

Scalar Potential is a craftable weapon, which means it has access to Enhanced perks. Players should always try to get Enhanced versions of the god rolls listed above so they don’t miss out on stat bonuses.
