A new game featuring a famous name is headed for Android release. We’ve probably all heard of him, but I’ve never seen the great detective Sherlock Holmes with quite such a big head before. Literally, I mean. I’ve seen him being egotistical plenty of times. Baker Street Breakouts is out November 13th and seeks to live up to Arthur Conan Doyle’s legacy.
So what’s this all about? Baker Street Breakouts is an upcoming point-and-click adventure game assembled in RPG Maker, the favored engine of budding JRPG creators, and architects of terrifying esoteric horror games alike.
Moriarty Up To His Old Tricks
It follows the famous man himself, Sherlock Holmes who receives a letter from his nemesis, Moriarty… that’s never a good sign.
What follows has the famous detective pulled into an investigation that will test his, and your own, skill and judgment.
A Sherlock Holmes JRPG? Well, not exactly. While the engine might be developed with that sort of game in mind, Baker Street Breakouts has more in common with an escape room than it does with a Final Fantasy.
Escape The Room
You make your way through ten different rooms, which the creator claims can take up to an hour each to complete. Inside you will find objects, and sometimes people, who can help you find a way out.
In order to secure your exit, you’ll need to work out how to use every resource in the room to your own advantage. You can combine items together in your inventory to create new functions, too.
The one downside for some is the game does closely resemble the engine’s default assets, so frequent consumers of RPG Maker titles may see some familiar-looking floors and carpets.
Still, we don’t like to judge a book, or game, by its cover.
The game is open for pre-registration now via Google Play. Intrigued, but not completely sold? The first room should be available to play for free at launch. That should give you a chance to make up your mind.
