Soda Den today announced a release date for Roots of Pacha, its co-op farming and life simulation game set in the Stone Age. It will be available for Switch on November 28, 2023.
When Roots of Pacha lands on Nintendo’s console, it’ll launch at version 1.1. It’ll come with feature parity and cross-platform multiplayer with the Steam version, romance options with Voda, smoke signal gifts and letters, new cutscenes, and more alongside a number of quality-of-life improvements. Further updates are planned “for 2024 and beyond with the intent to maintain feature parity between console and PC versions.”
Here’s some information about the game:
As a member of the Pacha clan undergoing the Rite of Passage into adulthood, help the clan progress into the future. Gather resources and discover inventions, aiming to create a civilization that will lead the way for humanity while peacefully coexisting not just with Stone Age flora and fauna, but other clans throughout The Land.
Break out a handaxe – solely as a tool, as Soda Den consciously built Roots of Pacha as a nonviolent experience – and construct devices for the betterment of the clan, including communal composters, picklers, and cheesecloths. Create new tools to advance civilization, like blade shears, flutes, and milkers. Domesticate wild animals, fish for food, and research a variety of vegetation to develop the knowledge needed to best utilize each plant’s properties.
Explore the depths of the caves and expansive land to find new resources. Use what’s discovered to help steer civilization towards monumental “Ideas” like irrigation, animal breeding, and cold storage to enable life-changing processes for all Pachans and neighboring communities.
Up to four Pachans can play together and traverse wild forests, puzzling caves, hot savannas, beaches, and more — all offering humanity unique resources to gather and mold into advanced tools to build a thriving civilization. Experience a guided RPG-esque story with world cutscenes that include surrounding players and single-player cutscenes that affect the world for everyone.
Soda Den co-founder Timothy Dadone Nasello said: “My brother Joni and I founded Soda Den and built Roots of Pacha around the idea of meaningful cooperative games. When you join your friends in Roots of Pacha, you’re not just an afterthought. You’re an important part of the world and a part of their journey. That’s why we prioritized cross-platform multiplayer and feature parity when making the console versions.”
