After a long wait, Bandai Namco is finally ready to let Dragon Ball FighterZ fans try the game with rollback netcode, at least only on one platform, for now.

The much-requested feature will be the focus of an open beta test on the Steam version of the game next week.

Precisely, it’ll start on November 30 and end on December 11.

Since it’s an open beta, every player who owns the Steam version will be able to play, but you will have to select the beta version in the “Betas” area of the game’s property on Steam to download the right build.

The announcement was made with a video starring producer Tomoko Hiroki, who apologized for the long wait. The beta was initially supposed to come in the spring, but obviously, it required more time in the oven before it could be put in the hands of players.

It’s worth mentioning that progression during the beta won’t transfer to the live build of the game and will remain completely separate. Paid currency will also be unavailable.

Dragon Ball FighterZ was released all the way back in 2018, and it’s currently available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It’s worth mentioning that not all versions will get rollback netcode.

The game has sold over 10 million copies as of May 2023, so it’s not surprising that Bandai Namco is still eager to support it, even if the official DLC releases have ended a while ago (while the older Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is still getting DLC as of now, also having sold a similar number of copies).

In the meantime, Bandai Namco has promised a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi, but no further information has been provided, for the moment.
