Highlights
- The trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 has significantly boosted Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel, gaining almost two million new subscribers within 24 hours.
- The massive views and subscriber increase can be attributed to the tremendous anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6, as well as the long gap since Rockstar’s last major release, Red Dead Redemption 2.
- While the first trailer has provided fans with a glimpse into the world of Vice City and its protagonists, it is likely that the next trailer won’t be released until next year, as the game itself is slated for a 2025 release.
The hugely anticipated trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 dropped recently, and it’s given Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel a substantial boost of almost two million new subscribers. The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6‘s trailer has been a long one, as its predecessor Grand Theft Auto 5 had just celebrated its tenth anniversary back in September. In the years since GTA 5, Rockstar has been supporting GTA Online and had released the massively successful Red Dead Redemption 2, among other smaller remasters and ports.
All eyes have been on Grand Theft Auto 6 for quite some time now, as the hype for the crime franchise’s next mainline installment has been mounting after several massive leaks that included numerous videos, screenshots, and important details about the world and protagonists hit the internet last year. Rockstar Games had decided to set the stage for Grand Theft Auto 6‘s official reveal, previously announcing the trailer would go live today on December 5. However, the full 90-second GTA 6 trailer was leaked on Twitter yesterday, with Rockstar soon deciding to go ahead and drop the trailer one day early.
8 Subtle Details You May Have Missed in the Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer
The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has already been viewed by tens of millions of people, but not everybody will have noticed these subtle details.
The Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer currently sits at a mind-boggling 84 million views on YouTube less than 24 hours after it went live and, as such, has given Rockstar’s channel a significant boost in subscriber numbers. As reported by Dexerto, Rockstar Games has gained around 1.7 million new subscribers on its YouTube channel since the trailer went up, bringing Rockstar’s total subscriber count to 9.4 million at the time of writing. Impressively, Grand Theft Auto 6‘s trailer also swiftly shattered Mr. Beast’s former record of 54 million views in 24 hours.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 being possibly the most hotly anticipated video game of all time, it makes sense for Rockstar Games to see these enormous numbers after finally putting out the game’s first trailer. One must also consider that it’s been over five years since Rockstar’s last major release in Red Dead Redemption 2 and there are certainly many younger or newer gamers coming to Rockstar’s YouTube channel for the first time to watch the GTA 6 trailer, subscribing while they’re there.
When Could Rockstar Release The Next Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer?
Now that Grand Theft Auto 6‘s first trailer is out in the wild and fans have gained a small glimpse at the world of Vice City and the protagonists Lucia and Jason, it’ll likely be a while before Trailer 2 hits. That said, Rockstar could very well put the next trailer out sometime next year, as GTA 6 has been stamped with a 2025 release window, though where in 2025 it will land is still a mystery.
