A few weeks ago, the 3v3 multiplayer shooter Rocket Arena was removed from sale on all platforms without an explanation.Today, we learn that it’ll officially shut down soon.
The announcement, made on the official site, reveals that the servers of the game will be turned off on March 21, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. PDT.
This marks the end of over three years of live service after the game was published in the summer of 2020 by Electronic Arts under the umbrella of its EA Originals brand.
No explanation was provided for the sunsetting of the game, but it’s likely that simply wasn’t turning enough of a profit anymore to keep it running, albeit this is just my personal speculation.
In the message posted today, the developer thanked the players for their support.
We can’t thank you all enough for playing Rocket Arena and supporting us during this journey. We’re thrilled that people from all around the world got to enjoy Rocket Arena for three and a half years since it launched in July of 2020. Since then, there’s been a ton of Knockouts, Megablasts, Rocketball goals, Mega Rockets captured, and coins collected.
We’ve been consistently blown away by the kindness, care, and camaraderie that’s been shown from the Rocket Arena community.
We also learn that there are events coming in the game for those who will stick around until the end, including showcase Arena playlists and the return of classic content from the early months of the game.
While Rocket Arena isn’t available for purchase, those who already bought it can still download it and enjoy it until the servers go dark.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Removing Rocket Fuel bundles from the store
