Rayquaza location guide in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Rayquaza location Pokemon Scarlet Violet

For those interested in learning where to catch Rayquaza in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as part of the Indigo Disk DLC, we have a Rayquaza location guide here for you.

Rayquaza is the master of the weather trio that also includes Kyogre and Groudon. Though Rayquaza can’t Mega Evolve in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, it does retain access to its signature move, Dragon Ascent. Like all the Legendary Pokemon in this game, you’ll need to grind out quests in the Union Circle – more on that in a bit. If you’re looking for the exact Rayquaza location on the Paldea map, you’ve come to the right place.

Rayquaza Map Location

As with all returning Legendary Pokemon in The Indigo Disk, Rayquaza is unlocked via Snacksworth – a character who appears at the entrance to Blueberry Academy after clearing the main story. When you complete a Group Quest via the Union Circle, you’ll be able to return to Snacksworth and receive a snack that spawns a random Legendary Pokemon somewhere in Paldea. Rayquaza itself is actually exclusive to Group Quests, which means you cannot spawn it at all if you don’t play with at least one additional real-life player via Union Circles. The snack you receive is also random, so it might take a little while to receive the Rayquaza snack.

As shown on the map above, the location for Rayquaza in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is on the top of the southeast cliff surrounding the Great Crater of Paldea. You’ll find it there at Level 70 – be advised that it knows Rest, so if you False Swipe it down to 1 HP there’s a chance that it heals itself back to full at any given time. Another somewhat annoying move it can use is Fly, which makes it invulnerable to attacks, status moves, and Poke Balls for a single turn. Make sure you come prepared!

We have guides available for more Legendary Pokemon locations, and you can find our master list of them through this link. Feel free to let us know if you have any suggestions for future guides, too.
