Rachel Zegler praised her Romeo & Juliet co-star Kit Connor as the duo promoted the Broadway production of one of Shakespeare's most beloved plays.
Both play the title role in the theater's modern adaptation of the star-crossed lovers tragedy.
Zegler, 23, and Connor, 20, were enthusiastic about working with each other during a joint interview today. The West Side Story star describes how comforting it was to work with someone who made her feel 'liked' throughout the casting process.
'I have the deepest respect for Kit, for all the amazing work he has done so far in such a short time on earth,' she said, placing a hand on Kit's shoulder.
'It's really cool to come to work every day, and it's amazing to have someone you trust deeply, deeply, because you're doing a live performance, which, you know, is very scary to do live. It's very comforting to know that I have someone there to support me in the process.

Despite playing one of the most legendary lovers in history, neither Zegler nor Connor were given the chance to meet each other before taking on the role.
But Connor said it was incredibly lucky that they got along so well.
'It was one of those things where we didn't meet, we both took the job without meeting, and that's always a scary thing … playing the most famous couple of all time can be daunting. But I think we've been very lucky, it's a natural progression to get really good,' he explained.
