Along with revealing updated sales numbers for its titles (including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2), Sony announced that the PS5 has shipped 46.6 million units worldwide as of September 30th, 2023. In the second quarter of fiscal year 2024, it shipped 4.9 million units, up from 1.6 million in the same period last year.

The PS4 and PS5 combined sold 67.6 million software units in that three month period, up by 5.1 million from the previous year. First-party titles constituted 4.7 million of that total, down 1.9 million year-over-year, while 67 percent of software sales were digital downloads of games, a four percent increase from last year.

Sony aims to ship 25 million consoles this fiscal year and is banking on fully stocking the console in all regions for the first time during the holidays. Whether it can hit that target remains to be seen, especially since its supply chain issues are over, so stay tuned for further updates.
