The PlayStation Plus April Essential games are now available to download. There are three Essential giveaways as per usual, and one of them is especially terrific. While the Essential freebies are now available to grab, Sony will soon pull the curtain aside on more offerings as the PS Plus April 2024 Extra and Premium games reveal date is only a week away with classic Star Wars already leaked.
There is lots for Sony players to anticipate this month. There is the release date for Sea of Thieves on PS5, and there is also the debut of Sony’s new console exclusive, Stellar Blade. Sony’s forthcoming console exclusive looks absolutely gorgeous, but most importantly it’s hella fun and you can play the free Stellar Blade demo right now.
While the anticipated releases of Stellar Blade and Sea of Thieves on PS5 are exciting, so too are more additions to Sony’s subscription library. None of the PS Plus April 2024 Extra and Premium games have been confirmed as of writing, but leaks point to the arrival of a PS1 Star Wars classic.
PS Plus Extra and Premium April 2024 games reveal date
The reveal date for the PS Plus Extra and Premium April 2024 games is April 10th. Sony usually reveals the Extra and Premium games on a Wednesday one week after the release of the Essentials. The April 2024 Essentials were given away on April 2nd, hence the expectation that Sony will pull the curtain aside next Wednesday.
After the games have been announced, they typically come out the Tuesday after. So, if announced on April 10th as expected, you should be able to begin playing from the 16th. In regard to the May 2024 Essentials, they are expected to be identified on May 1st.
To avoid missing out, make sure to claim the current monthly games before the expiry date of May 6th. The current giveaways for all PlayStation subscribers right now are Immortals of Aveum, Minecraft Legends, and the wonderful 2D action platformer, Skul The Hero Slayer.
PS Plus April 2024 Premium leak
A leak for the PS Plus April 2024 Premium Classic additions is Star Wars Rebel Assault II. This comes courtesy of Gematsu on Twitter who cite PSN store listings found by PS Deals.
The release date is listed as April 16th, which again points to said being the date when the PS Plus April 2024 Extra and Premium games become available to play. Of course, this is not official as of writing.
Unfortunately, aside from Star Wars, there are no other leaks as of writing. In addition, seeing as it’s a PS1 game, this will be for subscribers only.

Looking at the above list, there’s some really good games departing the subscription service this month. Soul Calibur 6 is an excellent fighting game that rivals Street Fighter 6 and the latest Mortal Kombat, meanwhile, Ghostbusters The Video Game is much better than the series’ newest torrid movie.
In other PlayStation news, Larian Studios has teased mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5. Former Nintendo Switch exclusive Epic Mickey is also set to return this year with Epic Mickey Rebrushed on PlayStation.
