Presidential polls live updates: Polymarket reveals Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the election have plummeted

With 27 days left of the presidential campaign, Kamala Harris has closed the gap with Donald Trump in the critical battleground state of Arizona.

A poll released by AARP on Tuesday has the former president at 49 percent, two points ahead of Harris with 47 percent of supporters.

When Biden dropped out, Trump was ahead by eight points. Harris’ surge, according to the survey, was sparked by a gain among voters between the ages of 18 and 34 and those over 65.

Arizona is one of the seven states where the result is crucial in the path to one of the candidates taking victory.

It’s not all good news for Harris, for DailyMail.com’s prediction model shows Trump has extended his lead in the race and is gaining ground in Michigan, another battleground.

The betting platform Polymarket also shows Harris’ odds of winning have plunged in recent days.

Kamala Harris’ chances of beating Trump drop in betting markets

Kamala Harris’ chances of winning the election against Donald Trump have dropped significantly, according to online betting platform Polymarket.

On Monday, Harris’ chances of victory fell to 45.8 percent while Trump’s rose to 54 percent.

Three days earlier, the vice president stood at 49.8 percent compared to Trump’s 49.6 percent.

The odds for Trump are the best since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race at the end of July.

In recent weeks the betting market has shown Trump and Harris are in a dead heat.

But a slew of positive polls for the former president appears to have tipped the scales in his favor.

In Arizona, Polymarket also released data showing Trump has his biggest lead in Arizona since July.

The platform gives him a 66 percent chance of winning the swing state that carries 11 electoral college votes and is one of the battlegrounds being eyed by both candidates.

Trump campaign releases new ‘ad’ clipping Kamala Harris’ The View answer on how she differs from Biden

Harris campaign quickly distances itself from Tim Walz’s proposal for a major change to the Constitution at lavish Democratic fundraiser

The Electoral College has outlived its usefulness, according to Kamala Harris ‘ running mate Tim Walz.

During a speech to donors at Gov. Gavin Newsom ‘s home Tuesday in Sacramento, California , he said it should be replaced by a national popular vote.

The comments were quickly seized on by the Trump campaign, which accused Walz of preparing the groundwork to claim a win by the Republican candidate in November was illegitimate.

And the Harris campaign distanced itself from any suggestion that it was planning to abolish the Electoral College.

But Walz’s comments highlight Democratic frustration at a system they believe clips their wings when their candidates have won the popular vote in seven of the last eight presidential elections.

Biden to blame for foiled terror attack: Speaker Mike Johnson

Speaker Mike Johnson blamed Biden’s ‘botched’ Afghanistan withdrawal for allowing an unvetted Afghan man – who planned an Election Day terror attack – to get into the U.S.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, told investigators after his arrest Monday that he had planned his attack to coincide with Election Day next month.

He and a juvenile co-conspirator are expected to die as martyrs, according to charging documents.

Following the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, more than 77K Afghans were given humanitarian parole, with little to no vetting and no intent to know their whereabouts.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi — the terrorist plotting an election day attack — was one of them. Whether it’s their open border policies or failed foreign policy, this administration continues to risk American lives by allowing terrorists, murders, rapists, and other violent criminals into our homeland.

Kamala Harris mocked online for bizarre accent on Stephen Colbert

Kamala Harris is being mocked online after debuting a bizarre new ‘accent’ while on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show.

Harris continued her friendly media blitz with a hit on CBS’ hit The Late Show, where she lectured hurricane victims and chugged a beer with the liberal host.

Social media users erupted after she used a ‘phony Jamaican accent’ while discussing the importance of empathy.

‘Have you no empathy man? No. For the, the suffering of other people. Have you no sense of purpose?’ she stated.

The savage online reaction started almost immediately as the VP caught heat for talking in a ‘Jamaican accent’ similar to Bob Marley.

‘Wake up babe, new Kamala Harris accent just dropped,’ conservative commentator Savanah Hernandez wrote on X.

Liberals beg people not to buy Bob Woodward’s new book: ‘Do not reward this behavior’

By Katelyn Caralle, Senior U.S. Political Reporter

Liberals are furious that Bob Woodward waited to reveal critical details about Donald Trump in his book rather than when he became aware of the damning information.

Several bombshell revelations are included in the journalist’s upcoming book War, according to excerpts published by multiple news outlets this week ahead of its release next week.

‘I really wish Bob Woodward were as interested in getting critical information out to the public as he is in selling books,’ one X user wrote.

Another possted: ‘Please do not buy Bob Woodward’s new book. I am begging you. Do not reward this behavior.’

One detail in the upcoming book reveals that Trump has called Russian President Vladimir Putin at least seven times since leaving office in January 2021 – and that he gifted the authoritarian leader COVID tests.

Biden and Netanyahu to speak Wednesday

By Emily Goodin, senior White House correspondent:

President Joe Biden is expected to speak with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the conversation will include Israel’s possible plans to strike Iran, according to reports.

Netanyahu has promised Iran will pay for its missile attacks on his country.

It would be the two leaders’ first known conversation since August and comes as Israel has upped its attacks on Hamas and Hezbollah.

It also comes after excerpts from Bob Woodward’s forthcoming book revealed just how much the Israeli Prime Minister infuriates the American president.

‘That son of a bitch, Bibi Netanyahu, he’s a bad guy. He’s a bad f***ing guy!’ Biden told associates.

Biden also took out his anger at Netanyahu directly.

‘Bibi, what the f***?,’ he said to him after an Israeli airstrike killed a top Hezbollah military commander and three civilians in Beirut.

From Rob Crilly, Chief U.S. Political Correspondent:

It is the stuff of every New Yorker’s dreams, a headline gig at Madison Square Garden.

And now it’s official. Donald Trump will hold a rally at Manhattan’s top concert and sporting arena on October 27, the Daily Mail can confirm.

The venue, home to the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, has a capacity of 20,000.

And although New York is hardly a battleground state (despite Trump’s claims) it would hold symbolic value as the campaign enters its final week.

Trump floated the idea of an M.S.G. rally in February and returned to the idea weeks later.

We think we’re signing Madison Square Garden to do. We’re going to have a big rally honoring the police and honoring the firemen and everybody. Honoring a lot of people, including teachers, by the way.

Afghan national charged with planning ‘violent’ Election Day terror attack on behalf of ISIS

The FBI has arrested an Afghan man who was inspired by the Islamic State militant organization to plot an Election Day attack targeting large crowds in the U.S.

Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, told investigators after his arrest Monday that he had planned his attack to coincide with Election Day next month.

He and a juvenile co-conspirator expected to die as martyrs, according to charging documents.

Tawhedi, who entered the U.S. in 2021 on a special immigrant visa, had taken steps in recent weeks to advance his attack plans, including by ordering AK-47 rifles.

He liquidated his family’s assets and buying one-way tickets for his wife and child to travel home to Afghanistan.

Donald Trump posted that the CBS edit of the ’60 Minutes’ interview with Kamala Harris was ‘possibly’ illegal as he demanded an investigation Wednesday.

The former president, who the network said backed out of his own scheduled interview with the prime-time program, blasted the interview after social media users erupted when the network took out her ‘word salad’ response to a question on Israel.

While excising the meandering answer may have boosted Trump’s rival, it was almost certainly protected activity under the First Amendment.

‘I’ve never seen this before, but the producers of 60 Minutes sliced and diced (“cut and pasted”) Lyin’ Kamala’s answers to questions, which were virtually incoherent, over and over again, some by as many as four times in a single sentence or thought, all in an effort, possibly illegal as part of the “News Division,” which must be licensed, to make her look “more Presidential,” or a least, better,’ Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

‘It may also be a major Campaign Finance Violation. This is a stain on the reputation of 60 Minutes that is not recoverable – It will always remain with this once storied brand.’ He called it ‘FAKE News!’ and demanded an immediate apology. ‘This is an open and shut case, and must be investigated, starting today!’

Harris and Biden to get Hurricane Milton briefing

Latest satellite picture of Hurricane Milton captured at 10:41 UTC (11:41 UK BST) as it approaches Florida on Wednesday (9 Oct).

By Emily Goodin, senior White House correspondent

Vice President Kamala Harris will join President Joe Biden for a briefing at noon on the latest preparations for Hurricane Milton, including updates on the forecast and expected impact for Florida.

Biden will be in person at the White House and Harris will join the briefing virtually.

The duo will also receive and update on the response to Hurricane Helene.

Harris is in New York City, where she conducted a media blitz on Tuesday tied to her presidential campaign. This afternoon she flies to Las Vegas for more campaign events.

Biden, meanwhile, postponed a planned trip to Germany and Angola because of the concerns about Hurricane Milton.

Milton, now Category 4, is expected to strike the Gulf Coast late Wednesday.

Florida has seen one of its largest evacuations in history in response. Biden called the evacuations were ‘a matter of life and death.’

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says FEMA ‘has the resources’ to assist with Hurricane Milton

Sec. Mayorkas is saying that Americans should ‘rest confident that FEMA has the resources’ as Hurricane Milton rapidly approaches Florida.

It comes just days after he admitted the FEMA does not have the funds to foot the bill to properly address the devastation caused by hurricanes this season.

We have the personnel. We already have 900 personnel deployed, pre-positioned in Florida, who were responding to Hurricane Helene, people who were responding previously to Hurricanes Idalia and Debby,” he said.

We are there. We have search and rescue teams; the Army Corps of Engineers are there. We are ready.

MAGA Rep. Anna Paulina Luna flees Hurricane Milton with her one-year-old baby: ‘I don’t think that we’ll have a house left’

Hurricane Milton is barreling towards Florida’s west coast with tremendous power bringing with it expectations for widespread damage and death throughout the area.

The storm is so daunting that it has forced Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a MAGA faithful, to evacuate her home in Pinellas County with her one-year-old son in tow fearing for his life.

‘It’s very likely that I’m going to be sending my son to see his family out of state because when we come home, I don’t think that we’ll have a house left,’ Luna told DailyMail.com on a phone call as she prepares her family and district for disaster.

Kamala Harris chugs beer with Stephen Colbert as she lectures hurricane victims over what they’re doing wrong

Kamala Harris lectured hurricane victims for believing what she called ‘misinformation’ while chugging a beer with Stephen Colbert on CBS’ ‘The Late Show’ Tuesday night.

Progressive darling Colbert, who briefly ended a vacation week to do an all-new episode with Harris amid a week of reruns, asked Harris her opinion on both Hurricane Milton and the just passed Hurricane Helene, which has killed hundreds.

She lectured victims of Helene for believing Republicans spreading what she called ‘misinformation’ about the state of FEMA in the reaction to Helene.

‘First of all, to all of those folks in North Carolina and Georgia, please know that people on the ground with FEMA are there to help you, you are entitled to it. There’s a lot of information and I beseech you, I beg you not to listen to it.’

Later in the chat, Harris appeared to get a buzz after Colbert pitched the idea of having a beer to the vice president by stating that 2024 was a ‘vibes election.’

Donald Trump extends his lead over Kamala Harris in DailyMail.com’s prediction model

Former President Donald Trump has extended his lead in the Daily Mail’s election model, which now gives him his highest probability yet of victory over Kamala Harris in November’s election.

A favorable poll in the critical swing state of Michigan, putting him one-point up over his Democratic opponent, helped nudge him to an almost 18-point lead, two points more than last week.

But plenty can change in the final weeks of campaigning.

And with Trump on a 58.8 percent of winning to Harris’ 41.1 the result remains very much in tossup territory.

However, the latest polling data now suggest that Trump is on track to win 302 electoral college votes to Harris’ 236, the most decisive lead yet.

Callum Hunter, data scientist at J.L. Partners who crunches the numbers, said in his latest briefing note: ‘Things continue to move against Harris—Trump’s win probability has increased by another two points since last week.

The win probability gap has now widened to nearly 18 points.

‘The fact that Michigan has moved into the Trump camp is significant and a major blow to the Harris campaign.

Donald Trump loses ground against Kamala Harris in swing state Arizona – but maintains slight lead

By Katelyn Caralle, Senior U.S. Political Reporter

Vice President Kamala Harris is making up ground against Donald Trump in the battleground swing state of Arizona.

While the former president still leads Harris 49 percent to 47 percent, the two-point gap is a 6 percent improvement for the vice president from the same results in June from AARP polling where Trump was ahead by eight points.

Harris made up ground among the youngest voting bloc of those 18 to 34, as well as some of the oldest over the age of 65.

Trump lost seven points from seniors in the border state.

The former president’s two-point lead among 600 likely Arizona voters surveyed between September 24 and October 1 is within the poll’s 4 percentage point margin of error.

Arizona is one of the seven swing states that will determine the outcome of the 2024 presidential election – along with Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The bipartisan AARP polling was conducted by Democratic firm Impact Research as well as Republican firm Fabrizio Ward, which was co-founded by Trump campaign pollster Tony Fabrizio.
