Clockmaker developer Belka Games is teaming up with environmental campaigner dots.eco to launch a Save the Turtles event this November.
The event is due to run from the 12th till the 16th of November, and it will see players purchasing a special offer in order to receive a) valuable in-game rewards, b) a certificate to share on social media, and c) a better world.
For the uninitiated, Clockmaker is a match-three puzzler set in a Victorian settlement that has fallen under an evil curse.
To lift the curse, you need to make your way from house to house solving Bejeweled-esque gem puzzles. Matching three clears those gems, matching four creates a bomb, matching five creates lightning… you know the drill.
Each stage comes with its own goals, and completing each one pushes the story forward and showers you with rewards.
Whether or not you realize it, Clockmaker is one of the most popular match-three puzzlers, with more than 25 million downloads on Android alone. Belka Games, meanwhile, is among the top 20 mobile game developers in the EU by revenue.
That kind of clout allows a company to make a difference—particularly when that company teams up with an innovative and impactful platform like dots.eco, which claims to have already saved more than 80,000 sea turtles in Costa Rica and Mexico.
There are several different species of sea turtle, and most of them are currently endangered due to poaching, climate change, habitat destruction, and accidental capture in fishing nets.
It’s not too late to save them, however, and you can play a tiny part in that effort.
You know what to do.
Clockmaker is available for free right now on the Google Play Store, the App Store, the Microsoft Store, the Amazon Appstore, Facebook, and online.
