Snorlax has been one of the most popular species in the Pokemon world since Gen 1, and one talented fan artist from the community shows off their love for the Pokemon by sharing some of their own custom designs showcasing what some Paradox Pokemon based on Snorlax might look like. Fans of the most recent core-series Pokemon titles have come up with countless designs of their own based on the intriguing new Paradox Pokemon, with these alternative designs helping breathe new life into many existing creatures.

“Paradox Pokemon” is an umbrella term used to identify the various odd species of Pokemon that can be found within the Great Crater of Paldea, with both the Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet versions featuring different rosters of Paradox Pokemon. While these enigmatic creatures appear at first glance to come directly from the past or future depending on the game version, information revealed in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC confirms that their origins are a little more complex than that.

How These Paradox Designs Differ From the Real Snorlax

Snorlax and Cubone

In any case, both “past” and “future” Paradox Pokemon represent drastically redesigned variants of several popular Pokemon, and have inspired fan artists to create their own custom Paradox Pokemon as well. Some designs recently shared by an artist going by the name Art_Goblin_Draws feature the Gen 1 Pokemon Snorlax, with the artist creating both a past-inspired and future-inspired version of the sleeping Pokemon. Their first design, Slumbering Wrath, features a violent and territorial Normal and Dark-type take on Snorlax which somewhat resembles a grizzly bear, and is complete with the sharp claws and teeth synonymous with the other prehistoric Paradox Pokemon designs.

The artist’s second design is a fantastically creative and unique concept called Iron Storage, which shares many of the same features seen in the Paradox Pokemon said to be from the distant future. This design takes up the Normal and Steel-type, and serves as a food storage unit with multiple uses, containing a freezer, fridge, and microwave within its body. The designer even states that this Pokemon would fall apart into its constituent pieces when fainting. On top of the alternate designs and switched-up typings, the creator also assigned some apt names to these designs which fall in line with the naming conventions used by the official Paradox Pokemon.

With Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s epilogue event already come and gone, it seems like the Gen 9 games won’t be seeing much in the way of new Pokemon or content, although some fans speculate that the Gen 9 Pokemon games could have one last trick up their sleeves. Whatever the case, Paradox Pokemon have undoubtedly added a new layer of depth to the world of Pokemon while also providing a whole new dimension of creative inspiration for artists to work with. Only time will tell if the concept of Paradox Pokemon will return in future games.
