STUDIO WILDROSE, YUKIKAZE, and Natsume Natari released a new update for Penny Blood: Hellbound, their new spinoff companion game for the Shadow Hearts spiritual successor Penny Blood.
Penny Blood: Hellbound has been available for Windows PC (via Steam) in early access. A full release is now planned for sometime in fall 2024.
Here’s a rundown on the new update and content:
Online Multiplayer Mode
Dive into the Dimensional Rift, a gateway entrance to online co-op mode, where you can team up with up to three other players and defeat waves of monsters from all across Mictlan in a unique adventure. Choose your character, skills, and accessories and match up with random players from all over the world or only players from your friend list.
New Area: Area 4 ‘Otherworldly Laboratory’
Explore a warped laboratory filled with space-time distortions. This new area introduces a host of new enemies and a formidable new boss to challenge players’ skills.
New Weapons for Playable Characters
Unlock a secondary base weapon for each of the five playable characters at the Forbidden Trapdoor blacksmith facility. These new weapons provide a fresh new battle style for each character!
New Facility NPCs
Two new NPCs will be discoverable in Area 4 and join the hideout to aid players.
Nihila, a tentacled being who has a love for tea, will be attached to the new Subspace Tearoom facility.
Sabnack, a demonic marquis who somehow found his way into the hideout, will be attached to the Forbidden Trapdoor blacksmith facility.
New Buddies (AI-controlled Dungeon NPCs)
Two new Buddies will be unlockable to fight alongside you:
Dosetsu Igarashi, a man claiming to be the greatest fiend in Japan, uses rope bondage to dominate his foes.
Jane Toppan, a seemingly sweet-mannered nurse, attacks her enemies with various syringes.

The early access update includes a range of new features and improvements:
Blood surfing attacks for ranged characters (Dr. Eugene and Saltykova)
