Palia is a free multiplayer life simulation game that challenges players to increase their skills as they build a homestead. Skills such as foraging, mining, logging, and more require time and energy to level up. Players will also naturally work on them as they collect building and crafting materials.
There is a feature in Palia called Focus that assists with skill building. Whenever players have Focus, they gain extra experience points towards their skills. This is important to unlock rewards from shop owners and recipes for equipment. Here are all the ways to increase Focus in Palia.

How to Increase Focus in Palia
Players can track their Focus using the Focus Bar at the top left side of the screen. It will be empty by default, but players can fill their Focus Bar by consuming animal produce, crops, and cooked food items. Players who have some Focus in the bar will receive a 30% bonus for all skill points.
Foraged raw ingredients such as mushrooms, sprouts, and oysters will give players small amounts of Focus, while more complex meals result in more. Recipes can be found around the map or be rewards for completing quests. Players can get ingredients by growing crops or purchasing goods from the General Store in town.
The Focus Bar will deplete as players work on their skills, so it is recommended to keep meals in bulk while working. Players can cook using a Campfire after getting the crafting recipe from Reth. Certain recipes also require players to prep them using the following appliances:
- Prep Station
- Mixing Station
- Standard Oven
- Standard Stove
Increasing the cooking level is the only way to unlock all the appliances.
How to Upgrade Focus in Palia
Players can upgrade their maximum level of Focus. Everyone starts with 200 Focus, but it can be gradually increased by offering the Dragon Statue at Maji’s Hollow 100 Renown.
Renown is earned as players complete quests, communicate with villagers, and level up their skills. It has a maximum level of 1,000 if players don’t spend it. Renown has other uses, but players are best to maximize their Focus. Every time players pray at a Dragon Statue and give it Renown, the Focus Bar increases by 50.
The Focus bonus can also be upgraded. Players can offer 100 Renown to the Phoenix Statue at Phoenix Falls to increase the bonus by 5% until it hits 50. Then it starts rising by 2.5%.
