Nintendo stirs fan frenzy with new alarm clock: 'The best thing ever'

Nintendo fans who are eager to wake up to the sounds of Splatoon 3's paint splatters or Super Mario Odyssey's coin drops will enjoy the all-new Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarm.

The company behind several legendary video game series like Donkey Kong and Mario Kart announced the watch today in a press release.

It described the new product as an “interactive alarm clock designed to add a little Nintendo charm to your home and daily routine.”

'That's really cool! If I'm going to wake up and start the day, it better be with Mario, Zelda and friends,” wrote one X user this morning.

The watch, which some fans on social media called the “best thing ever,” will be available at retail next year, but Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada can purchase it today.

The $99 Alarm comes with sounds from five Nintendo games.

In addition to Splatoon 3 and Super Mario Odyssey, sleepers can select one of 35 scenes from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4 and Ring Fit Adventure.

“Climb to the sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom with Mario and friends, start your day's adventure with Link and Princess Zelda, or start from scratch with the Inklings from Splatoon 3,” said the company.

Alarmo owners have the option to choose which mode the alarm will be in: constant or soft.

They can also select soothing sounds and music to help them fall asleep during the day or sleep at night.

Since the announcement, X users have been excited about the Alarmo's features despite its “annoying sounds.”

“Finally an alarm clock that makes me angry, stop in the morning like it's Mario Kart,” one user X tweeted.

Another Nintendo fan wrote: 'I want this, even though I know I'm going to, despite all the noise it makes in the morning.'

Several X users have already pre-ordered their Alarms and praised Nintendo for its 'lifestyle products.'

'I can imagine different models of this in different colors. Or even a Pikachu with ears,' one tweeter wrote in relation to the watch.

Other X users weren't as thrilled with the alarm clock and how Nintendo created what they called a “special form of torture.”

'Whenever I hear the sound of my alarm, even when I'm awake, I feel irritable and have a rush of anxiety. I don’t think you want to associate Nintendo sounds with this,” one X user tweeted.

Some Nintendo fans were especially angered by the Alarmo's “laughable” price and insisted they wouldn't buy the watch because of it.

'Okay, I mean this in the most respectful way. Nobody cares about that. $100 for a watch that requires an NSO subscription to even purchase is crazy,” said one user X wrote.

One angry X user wrote: 'Are you guys really charging $100 plus an online Nintendo subscription for an alarm clock!? Who thought it was a good idea?

The exorbitant price of the alarm clock that one user believes will rise to “$500 each on eBay” wasn't the only thing that got angry Nintendo fans riled up.

Several X users also expressed frustration with the announcement in general, after believing that Nintendo would announce the arrival of the Switch 2.

Some Nintendo fans were upset about the price of the watches, but they were also frustrated to see that the company's announcement wasn't about the Switch 2

“Nintendo revealed an alarm clock before the Switch 2 LMAO,” one user X wrote.

“The Switch 2 looks nothing like I imagined and here I thought it would be a video game console,” another X user wrote this morning.

Some gaming enthusiasts wrongly assumed that Alarmo was some sort of 'fake April Fools' Day product'.

“This trailer looks like a Nintendo April Fools ad,” one user X tweeted.

'I love those interesting little creatures over there. This is so random.
