New Harem Anime 2024

Although the definition of “niche,” harem anime will forever have a place in seasonal lineups. The theme’s representatives might struggle to dominate the limelight at times, but when done right, they can be surprise hits.

As the concept only requires that the protagonist finds himself surrounded by potential partners, harem shows can cover a fairly wide spectrum of genres and tones. Most series fall under the romance and comedy sphere, but action or isekai harem anime are not unheard of either.

While still taking shape, each 2024 anime season will likely include at least one or two harems. They might not be among the quarter’s biggest names, but they tend to attract a decent amount of attention as well, particularly when they are done competently or lean heavily into fanservice. Let’s take a look at every 2024 harem anime announced so far.

Chained Soldier

Winter 2024

Except for sequels, Chained Soldier could very well go down as the most highly-anticipated harem anime of 2024. The manga’s risqué nature is well-known for pushing the envelope in terms of ecchi content, and there was hope that the adaptation would translate or enhance the source material’s provocative material. Set in a world where Earth lives alongside another dimension filled with monsters, the premise follows a guy who becomes the slave of a group of girls who fight these beings. After using him as a soldier in battle, the girls reward him.

Best Winter 2024 Anime, Ranked

Solo Leveling, The Dangers in My Heart, and Classroom of the Elite are all contenders for the best Winter 2024 anime.

Unfortunately, the anime has been quite disappointing due to its poor handling of the manga’s fanservice scenes, with most of them being rushed and dull. The show has tried to cater to a more action-oriented audience, but it is not particularly great in that area either.

Tales Of Wedding Rings

Winter 2024

Winter 2024 is not lacking in isekai anime, but most of them do not lean into harem territory. The exception is Tales of Wedding Rings, a show that bakes its harem component directly into its story. Satou follows his crush, Hime, into a portal that leads to another world, and he learns that she is a princess who is about to marry a prince.

More importantly, this unique engagement grants her husband a magic ring that unlocks powers that will aid in fighting demons. In a twist of fate, Satou receives the ring, setting him on a path to “marry” other princesses to become the world’s savior. Tales of Wedding Rings is fairly enjoyable, mainly thanks to the likable Satou and Hime. That said, as a harem, it is quite strange since the story sets up a clear couple right from the start.

Isekai Onsen Paradise

Winter 2024

One of the most ignored anime of Winter 2024, Isekai Onsen Paradise consists of 3-minute shorts that follow Kouzou, a guy who has been reincarnated into a fantasy world. He happens to be a hot spring aficionado, so he goes on a journey to discover as many of these natural baths as possible. Shockingly, this adventure winds up leading him to a plethora of women that fit into fantasy archetypes, be they fox girls or elves; consequently, Kouzou quickly grows a harem that can put to shame most of the genre’s other representatives.

Isekai Onsen Paradise does not have much to offer beyond the minimum. Generally, each episode focuses on introducing a new girl who must be convinced of the wonders of hot springs, with Kouzou doing his utmost to sell their therapeutic appeal (among other things). The characters are, unsurprisingly, shallow, and the humor is nothing to write home about. Even the ecchi content is quite timid compared to the two other Winter 2024 harem anime or Gushing Over Magical Girls. Still, due to the show’s short length, Isekai Onsen Paradise is fairly inoffensive.

Re:Monster

Spring 2024

Another isekai story, Re:Monster does not have the greatest reputation; nevertheless, the light novel can be entertaining as a power fantasy with a unique twist. The protagonist is reincarnated as a goblin, and a particularly weak one.

However, he soon realizes that he can improve his stats, allowing him to grow in stature (both physically and politically). Before long, Rou is not only leading the pack but also finds himself surrounded by girls. The anime’s opening season might not cover enough of the source material to emphasize its harem element, but it should be part of the package.

2.5 Dimensional Seduction

Summer 2024

Why waste time with 3D girls when 2D ones are a much safer bet? 2.5 Dimensional Seduction‘s Masamune Okumura lives proudly by this philosophy, but the teenager has his resolve tested when girls start to join his one-man manga club.

A rough start notwithstanding, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses was one of the best harem anime of 2023. The first cour introduced non-manga readers to Hayato, a guy who inherits his grandmother’s café. Once there, he learns that his relative was living with a group of girls with widely different backgrounds. While initially he wants to evict them, they eventually decide to live together and reopen the shop.

The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses decided the best starting point is to present all five girls as detestable in its opening episode. That can be a death sentence for harem stories, but to its credit, the show managed to turn things around in a big way. By the end of season 1, the characters felt like family.

Date A Live 5

Taking a break from romantic comedies, Date A Live is a fun action sci-fi anime with great fights, generally solid animation, and a well-implemented harem component. The protagonist, Shido, must protect the world from special quakes by sealing Spirits, which come in the form of girls. As the process involves making them fall in love with him, Shido must literally grow his harem to become the savior he needs to be.

Date A Live will be entering its fifth season in 2024, making it somewhat inaccessible to newcomers. Thankfully, the sequel is still a few months away at the minimum, granting people enough time to catch up.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 2

2021’s Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles is set to get a sequel at some point in 2024. The isekai anime has the potential for growth since the opening season set up quite a few interesting concepts without expanding on them in great detail. Hopefully, the sequel will pick up the slack.

None of the characters are particularly thrilled by the prospects, but they are willing to get to know each other to try and make it work.

Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister should offer a good mix of comedy and drama, with romance naturally taking center stage. The fact all three girls are sisters sets the series apart from most other 2024 harem anime.

Anime With Some Harem Elements

Harem does not always take center stage, and a few series might touch upon ideas from the theme without committing to it. The upcoming anime might not be full-blown harems, but they could satisfy fans of the concept.
