EA and Criterion Games have released Need for Speed Unbound Vol. 8: Cops vs. Racers, the latest addition to the game’s ongoing live service updates for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Vol. 8 enhances the ultimate Need for Speed experience by reintroducing the classic Hot Pursuit mode. This update also features new Pursuit Tech, an all-new Cop Progression system, the iconic Porsche 959 S ‘87 and the potential meta-car, the Lotus Evija ‘23.
Players can reignite the thrill of the chase in Vol. 8’s Hot Pursuit mode, featuring high-octane 4v4 action that pits Cops against Racers in a battle for street supremacy. The mode includes two intense rounds where players switch roles between Cop and Racer. As a Racer, the objective is to reach the finish line without getting caught, while Cops can use various Pursuit Tech like Spike Strips, EMPs and the ESF battering ram, along with squad coordination and AI support, to stop them. Additionally, the Cop Career allows players to unlock nine unique cop customizations inspired by global police forces as they advance through the ranks.
In Vol. 8, The League, the single-player progression system in Free Roam introduced in Vol. 7, gets a refresh with new opponents, while Speed Pass adds more cars and cosmetics to unlock. Racers can access 45 tiers of customization content, including the fully customizable Lotus Evija ‘23, a futuristic hypercar with nearly 2000 horsepower. The Vol. 8 Premium Speed Pass offers 30 additional tiers of unlockable content, including the legendary 80s Porsche 959 S ’87, which comes with three bodykits, and five Rare Custom versions of both new cars, featuring two original Speedhunters designs and two NFS Legends customs.
