NBA 2K24 centers are not as good as they once were, at least according to the community. 2K’s player builder lets you have creative freedom over your entire MyPLAYER, from position to the exact measurements. Lots of players choose center, but many of them have been left feeling like that was a mistake.
NBA 2K24 centers have it rough this time around
NBA 2K24 players are growing frustrated with trying to play as centers. u/AlexTheKenyan shared a post to Reddit detailing their struggles, and the community had a lot to say about it. The original poster started by saying, “So I make a center build every year and generally I love it. Monster statlines, trying to play like Hakeem and dominate like Shaq. It’s great. This year I’m actually regretting making a center. I cannot score in the paint at a consistent rate at all.”
They went on to say that they had good badges and solid ratings, but they found it was a struggle to do almost anything on the court. Despite good close shot attributes, they were largely unable to score. This had a lot of support, with the post receiving 66 upvotes and tons of comments in a matter of hours.
u/NorthWestEastSouth_ had an epic NSFW rant, “They really f****d traditional big’s this year. I used to dominate with my C now I’m just a role player. This s**t is garbage. Week 1 we were able to dominate and then every patch Cs got worse and worse. Actual trash.”
Most members of the community agreed that the close shot rating was broken and largely meaningless. Iconic5 added, “Close shot is one of the most broken ratings in the game for bigs. It is only consistent against someone you have a significant height advantage against. Any regular sized big and a CS turns into a 40% shot and that’s if you don’t get chase down blocked by other help defending forwards.”
Many NBA 2K24 centers are hoping for a patch to fix the issues. Playing center is not fun, nor is it remotely easy to do. 2K, from the perspective of the community, has completely antiquated a position in the game. Despite players’ best efforts, playing as a center is all but impossible.
u/Vaderdood summed it up perfectly, “Close shot the biggest waste of attribute stat this year. If you are open in the paint and hold x, you are getting the worst animations.”
That’s all for the issues with NBA 2K24 centers, but be sure to check out the issues players are having with the Rec, the shot meter, and our full list of locker codes!
