MVA releases 'traitor' pamphlet against Shinde government: Here's what it says: Maharashtra Elections | Political news

As the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has released a pamphlet accusing the state government of betrayal, corruption and failure to protect the interests of Maharashtra by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The document titled Gadaranch Panchanama, which means “confirmed register of traitors”, was published on Sunday.

Major parties and alliances in Maharashtra

The MVA is an alliance that includes major parties in the state, including the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT party) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) (SP) led by Sharad Pawar. As an opposition coalition, the MVA was a vocal critic of the Shinde-led government. Meanwhile, Shinde's Shiv Sena is part of the Mahayuti alliance that includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Ajit Pawar's NCP. Elections to the 288-seat assembly in Maharashtra are expected to be held in November.

MVA pamphlet “The Traitor”.

In its 'Traitor' pamphlet, the opposition claimed that under the current administration, Maharashtra has lost significant industrial projects to neighboring Gujarat. At a press conference, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray declared that Maharashtra had been “betrayed” by Mahayuti. Thackeray added that injustice had not only happened to him and politicians like Sharad Pawar, but also to the state.

The Gadarancha Panchanama lists several allegations against the Shinde government, including corruption in high-profile projects such as the Dharavi redevelopment and road concreting efforts in Mumbai. The opposition criticized the administration for taking up the project of a statue of Shivaji Maharaj, a symbol of the pride of Maharashtra, accusing it of corruption even in the construction of a monument dedicated to a revered historical figure.

Mahayuti drove out industry from Maharashtra: MVA

The key point of this pamphlet is that the Mahayuti government pushed industries out of Maharashtra to Gujarat. The MVA accused the administration of breaking its promise to create 50 million new jobs, saying it had failed to fill over two lakh government vacancies.

Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole added that frequent document leaks and temporary employment are putting the youth of Maharashtra in serious trouble.

Patole further highlighted the growing economic and social problems under the current government. He pointed to the rising costs of basic goods and described what he saw as widespread corruption in the government recruitment process. He stressed the importance of addressing the rising level of crime, especially against women.

Baba Siddique Murder Abuse: MVA

MVA leaders used this pamphlet to highlight the government's alleged mismanagement of law and order, particularly the assassination of NCP leader Baba Siddique. Both Uddhav Thackeray and Nana Patole expressed concerns about the state's inability to ensure the safety of its citizens, with Thackeray questioning the credibility of the government's response to such crimes.

NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar echoed these views, noting that the opposition's pamphlet detailed the failures of the current government. The MVA also criticized the Prime Minister's Majhi Ladki Bahin project, terming it poorly planned and poorly funded.

Maharashtra would regress under MVA: Shinde

On Saturday, Prime Minister Shinde defended his administration, claiming that Maharashtra would have been left behind under the previous MVA government. He emphasized the stability of his government, noting that despite early predictions of collapse, he has been in power for two years.

The upcoming elections, expected next month, will be a direct contest between MVA and Mahayuti. The Election Commission of India is yet to announce the official election schedule.
