Today NextNinja and Anchor announced the first crossover event that will appear in the mobile game Muv-Luv Dimensions, featuring the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 anime.
The event will happen between November 15 and December 5, and as usual, it’ll be split in two parts.
Of course, this means that several characters from the popular anime series will become playable in the game. Some can be earned by playing, some via gacha.
The story of the event is pretty simple, with the members of Section 9 appearing in the world of Muv-Luv Dimensions while at the same time, the Post Humans steal a TSF mecha. In order to discover their purpose and return to their world, Motoko Kusanagi and her colleagues need to collaborate with the Immortals.
Simply by playing you’ll be able to unlock SR Motoko Kusanagi and Batou, on top of an SR Type-89 Kagerou with a Tachikoma passive.
By rolling on the gacha, you’ll be able to get SSR Motoko Kusanagi, SSR Takashi Shimamura, and SR Suzuka Mizukane during the first part, while the second part of the event will have SSR Batou, SSR Purin Ezaki, and SR Togusa. You’ll also be able to unlock an SSR Type-77 Gekishin with the Tachikoma passive via gacha points.
Of course, all the characters will have voice-overs by their original voice actors, including stars like Atsuko Tanaka, Megumi Hayashibara, Akio Otsuka, and Koichi Yamadera.
Interestingly, there will also be a paid ingot-only step-up gacha with four stages. The first 10 rolls will require 500 ingots, then 750, then 1,000, followed by 1,500 with one guaranteed SSR.
Gacha points will also be usable to get pilot fragments. SSR fragments will cost 20 points, while SR fragments will cost 5 points, and I certainly hope this mechanic will become permanent, as it’d solve a lot of issues in leveling up characters.

NextNinja also released the artwork for all the characters and the Gekishin.
If you’re not familiar with Muv-Luv Dimensions, it’s a mobile game available only in Japan for iOS and Android, based on the popular Muv-Luv franchise of visual novels (which incidentally is coming soon to Nintendo Switch). At the moment, we still don’t know for sure whether it’ll come west.
Incidentally, Anchor is also hosting a crowdfunding campaign for the Steam release of the all-ages version of the beloved visual novel Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (which is set in the same world as Muv.-Luv Extra).
