Following the announcements that the beloved original Muv-Luv trilogy of visual novels is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch and the Muv-Luv 20th Odyssey Box special edition, today we get a release date, at least for Japan.
The box will launch on the Japanese market on March 28. 2024, priced at 29,800 yen, which roughly translates into $211 at the current exchange rate.
At the moment, the box has been announced only for Japan, and we don’t have a release date for the Nintendo Switch version in the West just yet, with or without the box.
This rich physical edition comes with some rather spiffy bonuses inside, including an Imperial Guard emblem, a carabiner mug, an anniversary medal, and the massive Muv-Luv Alternative Integral Works sourcebook (which has been published digitally in English as Muv-Luv CODEX).
On top of that, it also includes codes for digital copies for Switch of Muv-Luv Unlimited: The Day After Episodes 00-03. I suppose this is a clear hint that this is also going to be released on its own on Nintendo’s consoles at some point.
Of course, you get the original Muv-Luv trilogy including Muv-Luv (which includes the first two episodes, Extra and Unlimited) and Muv-Luv Alternative. Pre-orders in Japan are already available.
Incidentally, for those who’d rather play the trilogy on PC steam codes for it are now included in the crowdfunding campaign for the Steam version of the beloved visual novel Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien.
The codes were added as a stretch goal reward, so everyone who backs the campaign will get them. Incidentally, the campaign is already fully funded with a couple of days left on the clock, and you can read our recent interview about it.
There is also news on the front of the mobile game Muv-Luv Dimensions, which revealed its New Year event.
The event will run from January 1, 2024 to February 1. The first part will come with SSR Sumika Kagami and SSR Mashiro Akatoki.
The second part will include SSR Takeru Shirogane and Yoi Chigirase. Both gacha will also include SR Tae Tsukiji and an SSR Type-97 Fubuki TSF.
Just playing the event will grant players SR Akane Suzumiya and an SR F-16 Fighting Falcon. You can see a trailer of the event below.
If you’re unfamiliar with Muv-Luv Dimensions, is a free-to-play mobile game for iOS and Android set in a new branch of the series’ multiverse.
At the moment, it’s available only in Japan and fans have been patiently waiting for any info about a Western release.
