Magic: The Gathering fans have a new reason to celebrate summer. Wizards of the Coast has announced their line-up of cards coming in their Secret Lair Summer Superdrop 2024. The superdrop includes the usual blend of guest artist work and official Assassins Creed and Hatsune Miku crossover cards.
The Secret Lair Summer Superdrop 2024 Line-Up
In an official blog post, Wizards of the Coast showcases the cards available in Secret Lair Summer Superdrop 2024. The superdrop contains six different sets of cards, featuring various guest artists.
One of these sets features guest artist Julie Bell. Bell’s fantasy artwork is prestigious, earning her several Chesley Awards and the “Living Master” title from the Art Renewal Center in 2013. She brings that skilled hand to five different cards. Those cards are as follows:
- Soul Warden
- Shivan Dragon
- Elves of Deep Shadow
- Good-Fortune Unicorn
- Coat of Arms
The second set in Secret Lair Summer Superdrop 2024 is the cheekily titled Featuring: Not A Wolf. These cards showcase different wolves dressed up and trying to pass as humans. It features artwork by Zoltan Boros, Sage Coffey, Miranda Meeks, Greg Staples, Johannes Voss, and Kev Walker. The cards featured are the following:
- Avabruck Caretaker // Hollowhenge Huntmaster
- Beastmaster Ascension
- Howl of the Night Pack
- Second Harvest
- Tovolar, Dire Overlord as Not A Wolf // Tovolar, the Midnight Scourge as King of Wolves
- Wolf Regular Human Guy Token
The third guest artist set is titled Prints of Darkness. The cards contain artwork by Kathleen Neeley, whose work is both expressive and macabre. That artwork is presented in the following cards:
- Dictate of Erebos
- Fecundity
- Mayhem Devil
- Moldervine Reclamation
- Prossh, Skyraider of Kher
For vocaloid idol Hatsune Miku fans, the fourth drop in Secret Lair Summer Superdrop 2024 features her for the second time in the series’ history. The pop idol will be showcased on six cards featuring artwork by Narendra Bintara Adi, Billy Christian, Aya Kato, Kekai Kotaki, PE-nekoR, and Leonardo Santanna. Those cards are:
- Diobolic Tutor
- Chord of Calling
- Child of Alara as Miku, Child of Song
- Song of Creation
- Sol Ring
- Thespian’s Stage
The final two sets in Secret Lair Summer Superdrop 2024 features artwork based on Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise. The first set, Da Vinci’s Designs, re-imagines five cards in the style of genius’s diagrams, illustrated by Miklós Ligeti. Those five cards are:
- Blade of Selves
- Conqueror’s Flail
- Darksteel Plate
- Death Render
- Whispersilk Cloak
The second Assassin’s Creed drop is titled Lethal Legends. This brings five iconic characters from the Assassin Brotherhood into Magic: The Gathering as Legendary Creature cards. Those characters include fan-favorites like Ezio and Edward Kenway as well as new characters Eivor and Basim. They are based on the following cards:
- Najeela, the Blade-Blossom as Eivor, Raven Clan Champion
- Kelsien, the Plague as Altair, Brotherhood Mentor
- Queen Marchesa as Amunet, Tyrants’ End
- Ramses, Assassin Lord as Basim, Master Assassin
- Admiral Beckett Brass as Edward, Jackdaw Captain
