More than 230 doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals called on former President Trump to release their medical records. Vice President Kamala Harris did this

In an open letter first reported by CBS News on Oct. 13, health care providers expressed concern about Trump's aging and argued that the 78-year-old Republican nominee should be transparent about his health and medical history.

“On August 20, Donald Trump said he would 'very happily' release his medical records. In the 55 days since then, he has yet to do so,” the letter said. “In the absence of any recent release of health information by Donald Trump, we are left to extrapolate from public appearances. And in this regard, Trump falls short of any standard of fitness for office and shows worrying signs of diminished agility.”

The majority of signatories support Harris for president. The letter states that Trump has been “rambling, rambling, and rudely attacking many of your perceived grievances” during his campaign events and questions whether this behavior is the result of cognitive changes associated with aging.

“The American people deserve to trust the mental and physical ability of their elected officials to do the jobs they elected them to do. Trump needs to go further to provide transparency about his physical health and mental acuity. He's getting older. ”

The letter comes as Harris calls on Trump to release his health information after the White House released a “statement of health” on Saturday that declared him in “excellent health.”

D Harris' doctor's statement also indicated that he had his most recent annual physical exam in April of this year. Trump released his own health records during the 2016 campaign and continued the trend when he took over the White House. In August, with the 2024 election quickly approaching, Trump told CBS News he would release updated medical records to the public. However, with almost three weeks until Election Day, he has yet to do so.

“He will not release his medical records,” Harris said Monday morning during an interview with podcast host Roland Martin. He also criticized Trump for refusing to debate a second time and questioned why Trump's “team” would not allow him an interview on CBS's “60 Minutes,” especially when it is tradition to sit down with both presidential candidates. show

“It could be because they think he’s just not prepared, incompetent and unstable and that he shouldn’t have this level of transparency for the American people,” Harris suggested.

Trump's campaign responded by pointing out that the former president had voluntarily released updates about his health several times. They also mentioned that he shared Recording a July Viewing Run by Dr. Ronny Jackson, a former White House doctor turned Republican Party congressman after a second assassination attempt on his life.

“Everyone has concluded that (Trump) is perfect and in excellent health to be commander in chief,” said Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung. “He maintained an extremely busy and active campaign schedule unlike any other in political history.” Meanwhile, Cheung criticized Harris as “unable to keep up with the demands of the campaign,” arguing that her agenda is “much lighter than Trump’s because, let’s say, she doesn’t have President Trump’s energy.”

Trump himself responded to Harris' medical statement on social media, calling it “very bad.”

“With all the problems he has, there is a real question as to whether he should run for president!” He wrote “My report is perfect – no problems!!!”
