Niantic, the company that developed Pokémon GO is behind this brand-new project. It’s basically IRL Monster Hunter – what’s not to love? Hunt monsters using augmented technology and collect a variety of powerful weapons to help you along the way. Friend Codes
What is a friend code? Well, simply put it’s a unique 12-digit number to identify you as a player. This code can be input into other players’ devices to trigger a friend request prompt. The number is chosen at random when you first enter the game, and cannot be changed. This code does not override your Niantic ID or username!
Niantic loves encouraging you to add friends, making the social section of the game one of the more important elements of MHN. With friends, you can team up in the party feature to take down stronger monsters with higher star rankings. There are also plenty of helpful rewards and loot to obtain just by simply adding people! So, what is up for grabs?
How To Find Your Friend Code
When you load up the game, interact with the character profile button in the bottom left. This will look like the headshot of your player. This will open the Hunter menu. On the right-hand side of the screen beneath the full body view of your avatar, you will see a barcode with the text “View”. Clicking this will take you to your personal friend code, where underneath the barcode is your unique number.
How To Add Friends
Echoing what I said for the finding friend code feature, pull up the same menu with the barcode and “View” text. There will be a section in the center of the screen for adding friends. Here you simply input their 12-digit number and hit add. Alternatively, you can use the QR, though that works best if you’re physically with the friend that you are adding.
