Minecraft players are calling for the developers to make a change to the new Armadillo mob. While the change won’t have a significant impact on gameplay, it seems that many players are in agreement that the Armadillo should be altered.
Minecraft Live 2023 was held earlier this year, and with it came a new poll for players to choose which mob would be added to the game next. The Armadillo was pitted against the Crab and the Penguin, and ultimately emerged the victor. While some fans were unhappy that their preferred mob didn’t get the win, even those who wanted the Armadillo now have an issue with it. Its recent addition to the beta and preview of the game has left some disappointed at its appearance.
Minecraft Player Makes Adorable Plush of the New Armadillo Mob
An artistic Minecraft player reimagines the game’s latest mob vote winner, the armadillo, as a plush, and the results are adorable.
The reason Minecraft players are upset with the Armadillo is due to the location of its eyes. When the Armadillo was first revealed as a potential mob, the eyes were located on the sides of the face. However, when the Armadillo was realized and put into the game’s beta mode, its eyes were instead on the front of its face. Since its addition to the game, multiple players have reached out on social media, pleading with Mojang to revert this particular change.
Some of these players are simply unhappy with its appearance due to it being “ugly,” but many more pointed out that its design is at odds with armadillos’ real-world appearance. Armadillos normally have eyes on the sides of their face, not the front. It’s not clear why Mojang decided to make this change from the beta design, though since the mob update for Minecraft hasn’t launched in the standard game mode yet, there’s a possibility it could change back with enough complaints.
However, it’s worth pointing out that the Armadillo’s design is in keeping with other Minecraft mobs’ take on real-life animals. Cows, chickens, and rabbits all normally have eyes on the sides of their faces in the real world, but in Minecraft they’re all located on the front of their faces. This may lessen the likelihood of it being changed, as keeping the eyes where they are will help it to fit in with other creatures in the game.
For now, it remains to be seen if Mojang will change the Minecraft Armadillo design. If it doesn’t, chances are that a player will create a mod to change the appearance to something more realistic. Minecraft fans will have to wait and see.
