Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 17 Takes You to the UK and Ireland

Asobo and Microsoft have released Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 17, which introduces new cities, points of interest, and airports based in and around the UK and Ireland.

The update brings the studios’ incredible attention to detail and focus on photorealism to cities like London, Bristol, Liverpool, and Newcastle, as well as Irish cities Cork and Dublin, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland, and the Welsh capital Cardiff.

It follows on from previous World Updates, which have seen major overhauls for locations in the Caribbean, the Nordics, and Central Eastern Europe, to name but a few of the most recent ones.

The new Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update has some beautiful locations in the UK and Ireland for you to visit.

The new World Update also adds 79 points of interest across England, Wales, Scotland, the Isle of Man, and both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Five new handcrafted airports have been added: Farnborough and London Stansted in England, Cork in Ireland, Sumburgh in Scotland, and Cardiff in Wales.

You can also look forward to eight new activities to enjoy, split between three discovery flights, two landing challenges, and three bush trips, lest you thought there wasn’t enough to do in these new UK and Ireland locations.

Microsoft and Asobo have, of course, released a trailer to show off the work they’ve done on the new locations for this update. If you want to see it all in action, you can check out that trailer here.

If you want a full breakdown of everything that’s been added in this latest World Update, then you can take a look at Microsoft and Asobo’s official announcement here. It’s also got some rather lovely screenshots for you to enjoy.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available right now on PC and Xbox Series X|S, as is the new World Update. A new version of the game, snappily titled Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, is set to launch in November.
