Whether or not Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will receive post-launch DLC similar to the first game remains to be seen, but creative director Bryan Intihar sure seems to be hinting at not just upcoming content, but possibly upcoming content related to fellow Marvel superhero Daredevil.
When Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched, players promptly spotted that one of the fictional landmarks in the original game had seen a notable change in the sequel. The law offices of Nelson and Murdock – where Daredevil a.k.a. Matt Murdock works when he isn’t beating up criminals in a red suit – initially no longer had a sign with their names on it on the building, though that was recently fixed when, following a recent update, the sign re-appeared.
That, as you might imagine, has sparked plenty of speculation, and Intihar seems to be pouring fuel on the fire. As a recent official Insomniac livestream ended, Intihar was heard saying, “Where is Daredevil?” before the stream promptly ended (via @SpiderManCD on Twitter).
Interestingly enough, this also isn’t the first time that Intihar has hinted at something related to Daredevil. In a recent interview with IGN that took place prior to the re-appearance of the Nelson and Murdock sign, when asked about why it was missing, Intihar responded after a long pause, “stay tuned.”
At one point in the game, Peter Parker also passingly mentions enlisting the help of some “lawyer friends” for an issue related to the incarceration of Sandman (or Miles Morales mentions “Peter’s lawyer friends”, if you’re playing as him).
Whether all of this is pointing to an upcoming appearance by Daredevil in Insomniac’s Spider-Man universe remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say that speculation from fans has entered overdrive. The hope certainly is that we’ll be seeing The Man Without Fear in upcoming DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Insomniac is, of course, already working with multiple Marvel properties, with Marvel’s Wolverine also currently being in development, and having been confirmed to be part of the same universe as the studio’s Spider-Man games.
In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is exactly the sort of sequel you’d want it to be, and though it stumbles here and there, ultimately, it improves on its predecessors in almost every way that matters most.” Read the full review through here.
