PlayStation and Marvel exclusively revealed new suits for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at New York Comic-Con 2023. These are the Brooklyn 2099 and Kumo Suits – check them out below.
Creative director Bryan Intihar appeared on stage with artists Taurin Clarke (who designed the Brooklyn 2099 Suit) and Peach Momoko (creator of the Kumo Suit). Speaking about their thoughts on the suits, Clark said he went for a “runner kind of a material”, opting for a flat matte black. A bit of “sheen” was added in-game, which he felt to be “over-the-top polished and beautiful.”
As for the Kumo Suit (with “Kumo” meaning Spider in Japanese), Momoko took a “really careful approach” with the sleeves having traditional Japanese-style tattoos. Each arm has different tattoos, with a back tattoo resembling a spider. The design is very much in line with her Demon Days series, which depicts the stories of X-Men characters in the style of Japanese folktales.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20th for PS5. It will feature 65 suits and over 200 ways to customize them. For more details on the Deluxe Edition suits, head here.
