Married at First Sight will soon return to Lifetime, but fans have already spotted red flags after watching the preseason specials. Married at First Sight Season 17 ended in April, but experts failed to find compatible couples. Every relationship from this season has ended. Initially, Becca Haley and Austin Reed said “I do” on Decision Day, but then they divorced. Chloe Brown wanted to stay married, but Michael Shiakallis refused and their relationship ended. This became a pattern Married at First Sight; there are very few couples who manage to stay together.
Fans are furious after Lifetime flew in cast members from Denver to give them advice
Married at First Sight
season 18 stars.
A week before Married at First Sight Lifetime premiered season 18 with two specials: “Matchmaking In Chicago” and “Kicking Off Chicago” to get fans excited for the new season. Unfortunately, negative reactions appeared quickly. After Lifetime posted a clip from one of the specials that featured some of them MAFS Season 17 stars give advice to new cast members, fans took to the comments to express disbelief that anyone from Denver's season would be asked for advice.
How @Her_2024__ let's put it this way: “Meshould be known as The Forgotten Season because it was terrible and fake!” @Terrismithjones he bluntly said, “We do NOT want to see themIn particular several fans found it shocking that Michael and Lauren gave advice. “This is ridiculous” @Reerae1 he exclaimed, using a crying and laughing emoji. @Mojebeautifulpoms admitted that they are “outside” after Lauren gave advice. Meanwhile, some fans are really hopeful MAFS season 18 discontinues the series. How @Missjowebb put it downPlease Chicago… use MAFS!!! We are missing a good, REAL love story!!!“
What does the return of the Denver cast mean for MAFS season 18?
The producers of MAFS have not learned the lessons from the past
A clip published by Lifetime from the pre-Married at First Sight Season 18 specials showed that Lauren and Michael were hoping that one particular couple would stay together. Lauren admitted that she is optimistic and hopes that she will not have to eat her words later. Michael plans to take one of the new cast members' word for a comment she made about attractiveness. The fans noticed this there's no point in bringing back cast members who had failed relationships.

Unfortunately, Lauren will most likely have to keep quiet about her words after the season ends because of the terrible balance Married at First Sight has. This show has been on for 17 seasons with a success rate of less than 20%. This should be a huge warning sign not only for the new couples that fans will soon see on their screens, but also a warning for alums like Lauren and Michael who should know better, especially since their own MAFS marriages failed.
Our take on the Denver cast and casting advice for MAFS season 18
Instead, the MAFS season 18 cast should hear from successful couples
Fans in the comments on Instagram are right. People like Lauren and Michael come back to talk about what's new MAFS cast members make no sense because newlyweds shouldn't take advice from reality stars of the past whose relationships crashed and burned on national television. It's great that we'll see Lauren and Michael on our screens again, but… the new cast would be better off hearing from successful couples, even though they are few and far between.
Married at First Sight
Season 18 will premiere on October 15 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
