The Elder Scrolls Online fans are in for a treat this year with the brand-new Gold Road Chapter, introducing a never-before-seen Daedric Prince. This is set to release in June, and it will also feature a new zone, an all-new game system, game mode, and a swathe of challenges and rewards. At the time of writing, it will take three months before players can experience this game-changing chapter. As such, The Elder Scrolls Online team is keeping the hype going with some new content this March.
For those unfamiliar with the game, ESO is an MMORPG set in The Elder Scrolls universe. It takes place during the second era, way before the events of Skyrim. Its story is also canon, so lore-hungry TES fans will surely love exploring this game’s version of Tamriel. There’s never a better time to pick up the game, as the upcoming ESO Gold Road Chapter sets up Ithelia, a long-forgotten Daedric Prince. A related DLC, releasing this March 11, will bring in new dungeons and fresh rewards.
Every The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road Feature Confirmed
The Elder Scrolls Online recently announced its ambitious Gold Road expansion, with a number of features already being confirmed for the DLC.
Scions of Ithelia is the Elder Scrolls Online’s newest DLC pack, which will contain two new dungeons:
- The Oathsworn Pit: This area is a sacred training ground for Orcs, but it has since been raided by a group of Wood Elves known as the Recollection. Malacath calls upon The Vestige and Bazrag to work together to avenge his fallen people and save the surviving ones from the invaders. This dungeon will have three challenging bosses, according to the DLC’s official blog post. These will include new characters like Rethelros, Anthelmir, and the final boss Aradros the Awakened. All of them seem to primarily use fire magic.
- Bedlam Veil: This is a demiplane of Maelstrom which the player will defend against swarms of cultists. They’ll work with the Demiprince Fa-Nuit-Hen to make sure that the strange relic within this plane doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. According to a Meet the Character post, Fa-Nuit-Hen is a scion of Boethiah and a proficient duelist. He’s in charge of the Maelstrom Arena, which makes use of Beldam Veil as its storeroom.
ESO’s Scions of Ithelia DLC is Packed With Lore Clues
The details of how the dungeons are related to the upcoming chapter are quite scarce. However, there are a few clues that link them together. According to The Oathsworn Pit Preview blog post, the Recollection will be a major player in Gold Road. The developers stated that this group of Wood Elves might have a hidden motive for their invasion of the pit, which might not be immediately apparent to the player.
The Mystery of the Recollection in the Elder Scrolls Online
It does make one think about what the Recollection would gain from desecrating a site that is near and dear to the Daedric Prince of Curses. It could be that this group is the titular Scions of Ithelia, who have risen from obscurity to expand their territory. The literal meaning of their name is to recall something from memory, and Ithelia is a Daedric Prince that Tamriel has forgotten. Those who have played through the Necrom chapter so far will know why everyone, including most of her fellow Princes, has no memory of her existence; only Hermaeus Mora knows about her.
The post about Fa-Nuit-Hen and Bedlam Veil doesn’t have any obvious information about the Gold Road chapter. A possible clue is that he’s a Scion of Boethiah, who is one of the Daedric Princes, and the cultists invading Bedlam Veil could be the Scions of Ithelia. The secret artifact that he’s protecting could also be a key item in the upcoming chapter. Apart from getting some sweet, sweet lore, players will also be rewarded with cool cosmetics like the Bloodmarks of Malacath skin and the Cinders of Anthelmir Set when they complete both dungeons. The Scions of Ithelia DLC pack costs 1,500 Crowns and is free for ESO Plus members to access.
