Manchester United made a mistake in extending head coach Erik ten Hag's contract by a year until 2026 in the summer. A few months later, the club noticed this and paid dearly for it. But fans should eliminate him now.

As the Red Devils confirmed in their latest financial report, ten Hag's severance packages cost £11.4 million (approximately 12.8 million francs). Together with the signing of Ruben Amorim, the England record champions' sales exceed £21 million (Franc 23.5 million). Now, additional revenue from ticket sales should fill the hole in the cash register.

It's no secret that the club is raising ticket prices for the remainder of the season, and by a significant margin. Club members now pay at least £66 (approximately 74 francs) instead of the previous £40 (approximately 45 francs). The children's discount, which previously came to Old Trafford for £25 (28 francs), has been scrapped. This affects “only” 3% of tickets for the remaining games, as 97% of membership tickets have already been sold. But fans fear ticket prices will rise further next season.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) announced that the club had not consulted fans or organizations representing their interests. Macau University of Science and Technology was told only that the price increase “urgently requires” addressing profitability and sustainability issues. A fan representative wrote: “This could be just the beginning of intense pressure for a significant price increase next season.”

Even after the arrival of Ineos founder, billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, United's financial situation has not improved significantly. The burden of years of mismanagement is simply too great. Since 2013 and the resignation of successful coach Sir Alex Ferguson, £67.3m (75.3m francs at today's exchange rates) has been spent on severance packages alone. The most expensive of these was the sacking of Jose Mourinho for £19.6 million (Franc 21.9 million). This is why fans are now being asked to pay. The price rise is expected to bring in millions of pounds of additional revenue.

Ahead of Sunday's game, fans of Manchester United and their rivals Everton are planning to hold protests against price increases and the removal of discounts for certain supporters groups. (NIH)

There's no place for young talent next to six foreigners? In Biel, junior hockey holds a huge club night where, for one night at least, the National League feels like the best training league in Europe. But even cult TV reporter Claude Judge was denied an interview.

Andreas Ruefer has a talent for acting. No wonder: He's the brother of cult TV journalist Sascha Ruefer. Andreas Ruefer's main job is as a restaurant entrepreneur with a Subway branch in Shoppyland in Schönbühl, Belgium, and as Chief Communications Officer of EHC Biel. Half an hour before the game, it was his duty to greet the history-making crowd. As is customary at all clubs. On Tuesday night, he came up with a humorous greeting: “Welcome to today's junior game.”
