Manchester City-Tottenham Hotspur
Neither the international break nor manager Pep Guardiola's contract extension has put City back on track. Manuel Akanji's English champions lost 4-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
The defeat at their own stadium was the fifth consecutive defeat for Pep Guardiola's side and their third in the Premier League. Liverpool can extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points with a victory over Southampton on Sunday.
James Maddison, on his 28th birthday, scored two goals in the opening 20 minutes to send Manchester City into an early collapse. In pouring rain, Pedro Polo and Brennan Johnson completed Spurs' sweep of victory. The Londoner surprised City and the defense around Manuel Akanji on several occasions with counter-attacks.
