Indie game publisher Playdigious has just announced that Little Nightmares will officially launch its new mobile version on December 12th, 2023. It will be available on both the App Store and Google Play, and pre-orders are open now.

The news comes after Little Nightmares’ mobile release was delayed last March, and it was previously expected to launch in Winter 2022 as announced last year.

Little Nightmares, the psychological horror adventure from developer Tarsier Studios and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, originally launched in 2017. It’s available now on PC and all major consoles. You can watch today’s mobile release date trailer on the Playdigious YouTube channel:

Little Nightmares remains a classic horror staple that harnesses deeply unsettling imagery to maintain a constant sense of danger. The devs crafted a game that digs into something primal, which fuels some very intuitive stealth mechanics. And the fanbase remains very strong, as the franchise reached 12 million units sold back in May.

There’s no better time to revisit Little Nightmares on mobile, now that Little Nightmares 3 has been announced. The franchise continues to evolve as it grows, experimenting with the likes of Very Little Nightmares. And it seems the third game will have many of its own twists, while using a consistent world and equally surreal enemies.

Although a mobile version might stifle the impact of the visuals and lose some immersion, Little Nightmares should perform well on mobile. Its straightforward gameplay is easy to pick up or set aside for a while, and the controls should translate well.

Little Nightmares would also be the perfect campfire game, so it’s a shame it couldn’t arrive before Halloween. But with the Holidays coming soon, Little Nightmares could be an excellent way to pass extensive travel time. Either way, the devs delayed the mobile version to polish things up quite a while ago, so fans should be pleased it’s finally releasing after such a long wait.
