Like a Dragon Gaiden‘s English dub voice actor for main character Kiryu, the YouTuber Yong Yea, has been mercilessly criticized after a sample of his performance in the game was uploaded online.
For those not in the loop, YouTuber Yong Yea replaced the former actor for Kiryu, Darryl Hughes Kurylo, a decision that initially upset many fans of the Like a Dragon series.
Now, a sample of Yong Yea’s voice work has been uploaded onto Twitter:
This sample didn’t sit well with Twitter users, who immediately derided his voice acting skills:
It remains unclear if the English dub for Like a Dragon Gaiden is available at launch or if it will come in a later patch like YongYea said prior, but numerous clips are posted online now.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was just released on November 9, 2023, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows (through Steam).
