Liam Neeson reflected on how his family “came together” after the tragic death of his wife Natasha Richardson in 2009.
British actress Richardson died from an epidural hematoma on March 18, 2009, two days after suffering a head injury during a skiing accident. She is 45 years old.
Neeson, now 72, had to raise her two young sons, Michael, 29, and Daniel, 28, who were 13 and 12 when their mother died.
The star who suffered the accident told People: “It's a terrible thing.”
Paying tribute to Natasha's sister, Joel Richardson, and mother, Vanessa Redgrave, both acclaimed actresses, he said: 'Everyone pulled together. Vanessa and Jolie are extraordinary. We are lucky in so many ways.'

Michael changed his last name to Richardson in 2018 to honor his late mother and in 2020 he starred alongside his father in the comedy-drama Made in Italy.
Neeson said his oldest son emulated his parents' performance: 'I think Natasha would be proud. I hope so.'
Daniel was at home in New York at the time of his mother's accident, but his brother was by his side in 2009 when the Tony Award winner fell while skiing on the slopes and hit his head.

Natasha, who acted in Hollywood films such as The Parent Trap and Maid in Manhattan, suffered an accident while skiing.
He was not wearing a helmet and initially said he was fine before his condition worsened at his hotel an hour later.
Liam rushed to her side and she was flown to intensive care in New York, where she died two days later in hospital, with her mother Vanessa and sister Jolie by her side.
An autopsy revealed that Richardson died of a cranial hemorrhage after falling down a ski slope in Mont Tremblant.
