'[We] didn't know each other before,' the 6-foot-3 Australian heartthrob admitted to PEOPLE on Wednesday.

'It was strange. It felt like we had known each other for a long time and there was this instant trust and connection. As we worked together, it grew and evolved.'

Liam continued: 'We had so much fun doing this project together. It was such an unexpected, wonderful surprise to work with someone I was already a huge fan of and obviously an amazing, brilliant actress.
