I’m not surprised that Canada Post is losing money, but the wrong way to deal with it is to raise postal rates, as this is not going to entice people to use it more often. The delivery is slow and expensive.

Although a lot of people do things online, I am one who doesn’t and there are many who don’t. With hacking and identity theft being a big thing with the digital online world, I question why people are use it for things like banking and shopping.

Convenience will always come with a price and now we’re seeing the results of that. I have no issue with home delivery going down to, say, three days a week, however.

It really is time for those in the health-care and education systems to start thinking about their customers and not themselves. How about governments freeze the salaries of health-network executives, hospital executives and those in the education system?

I’m sure the most senior of bureaucrats can survive on their salaries. It was telling to read that Alex Munter, CHEO’s president and CEO, hadn’t had a raise since taking over the job in 2012, yet still makes about $330,000 a year. Surely he and the others can survive on that.

There also needs to be a freeze on travel and office renovations. I’m sure some of those millions could be better spent on hiring more doctors and teachers.

If one of those hospital or health-network CEOs doesn’t like the pay freeze, then move on, but I doubt it will happen. These organizations are full of front-line experts who know where the money should go.

NO PLAYOFFS IN OTTAWA

Once again, Ottawa professional sports teams end up missing the playoffs. First the Redblacks last season, then the Senators and now the nameless women’s hockey team. You would think that Ottawa fans would be disappointed, yet they keep paying good money to attend these games. Never could figure that out. Is it because Ottawa likes and supports losers? Just asking.

Then we have the Toronto Maple Leafs. Enough said.
