Letter to the editor: Don’t need Trudeau’s empathy

I recently forced myself to watch a cringeworthy interview with Justin Trudeau on YouTube. He actually wonders what could have happened in people’s lives that made us criticize or dislike him.

He categorized some criticism of him as over the top, toxic and polarizing. In his usual condescending manner, he said he has some empathy for us poor souls. Well, I certainly don’t need his fake empathy. I’m a perfectly happy, well-adjusted person who just hates having a hypocritical, incompetent, phoney person for a prime minister.

SHOULD USE ‘CLOUD SEEDING’

For those of us who actually do some research on this subject, I’d like to know why “cloud seeding” (yes, it’s a reality) isn’t being used to help extinguish these out-of-control wildfires. One has to wonder why it takes so long to get them under control.

I find it strange that, when the direction of a fire heading towards a town or city is known, resources aren’t put in place ahead of time to divert or lessen the impact. Creating rain isn’t new; it has been possible to manipulate some weather since the ’50s. We could stop or, at the very least, lessen the destruction of our forests by using this technology.

CASH GRAB, NOT TAX

Occasionally, you’ll find new words added to the dictionary. As the world goes forward — some might say backwards — new words are invented.

I think it’s time to delete some words and replace them with something more appropriate to the circumstances. Take the word “tax,” for instance. Perhaps it should be eliminated and replaced with the words “cash grab.” In simplistic terms, the word tax is defined as the payments by an individual to the government in order to finance the ongoing government operations. The spending and misuse of tax dollars by governments is bordering on legendary. The results would seem to go against the definition of the word “tax.”
