Fortnite players are gearing up for the Avatar event, which will bring a new set of Mythics to the game. Chapter 5 Season 2 started off with the Olympian boss gods taking over the island, with characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender now joining the battle.
Update v29.20 dropped on April 9, and you can take a look at the full Fortnite patch notes to discover the details from the latest release. For Battle Royale fans, additional Avatar Mythics will be the main focus of the update.
Although these won’t be released in-game until April 12, a clip has leaked showcasing the three new abilities. We can’t wait to try them out, and you will feel the same after witnessing the upcoming powers!
New Avatar Mythics in Fortnite
The Fortnite x Avatar collaboration has been growing ever since Korra was added to the Battle Pass. Joining her was the Waterbending Mythic item, which allowed you to hurl projectiles at opponents and also restore health while in the water.
It wouldn’t be right to have just one of the bending arts in-game, with earth, air, and fire set to join soon. But what will the Earthbending, Airbending, and Firebending Mythic abilities be?
Luckily, @FNBRintel has shared a clip on X (formerly Twitter) giving a little taster of each new Mythic. Check out the video here.
We are so hyped for these new Avatar Mythics to drop in Fortnite! In fact, the three new ones might put the current Waterbending to shame. Of course, we will need to see more details for each ability to fully judge, including if they also have additional capabilities such as the healing power of Waterbending.
For now, Firebending looks to be an offensive Mythic. Hopefully, Epic Games get the balance right for damage output. We don’t want it too overpowered, but if it deals too little damage it will see little use. This was seen when the Chains of Hades was first introduced.
Airbending doesn’t appear to be able to cause damage, and will instead be used to travel faster across the map. Very useful if you’re always running in from the storm circle! With this and the Wings of Icarus in the game, there should be no more excuses for getting stuck in the storm.
Finally, Earthbending could be brilliant in Zero Build. Creating a defensive shield mid-battle is always a great addition to have in your inventory in the mode. It looks to have similar functionality to Todoroki’s Ice Wall Mythic introduced in Chapter 4 Season 4.
While we wait for the new items to come to the game, you can hone your skills with the best Fortnite XP maps to level up fast. Make sure you are using the best Fortnite controller settings or the best keyboard and mouse settings when you do.
