Neocore Games has announced a brand new King Arthur: Knight’s Tale expansion that will revolve around the Roman Empire.

Legion IX will see you leading a Roman campaign into Avalon as a tribune of the Ninth Legion. Together with your demonic legionnaires, you’ll attack Avalon and try to claim it for yourself.

It’s time for a clash between the Roman Empire and Avalon in the new King Arthur: Knight’s Tale expansion.

We don’t know a lot about the expansion outside of its basic setup right now, although it’s due to arrive sometime in early 2024, so it’s likely we’ll hear more about it soon.

In the meantime, Neocore has also released a rather evocative announcement trailer that features the Roman legion you’re fated to lead.

It’s a cinematic trailer, so we don’t get a glimpse of what Legion IX‘s gameplay will look like, but it does a good job of setting the tone for the expansion to come.

If you’re not familiar with King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, it’s a strategy RPG that intends to marry turn-based tactics with traditional character-based role-playing.

The game takes Arthurian legend as its starting point, but adds a dark fantasy twist that sees you playing as Arthur’s nemesis Mordred.

After your death, the Lady of the Lake tasks you with hunting down what remains of King Arthur and destroying him. Along the way, you’ll gather your very own team of heroes, send them on missions, and make deep and involved moral decisions.

Neocore’s game originally launched in Early Access in January 2021, eventually receiving its 1.0 release in April last year after its full release was delayed in both January and March.

Legion IX will be the game’s first full-fledged expansion; it’s received several major updates since its launch, but no extensive paid DLC until now.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale – Legion IX is due to launch sometime in early 2024 for PC via Steam. Stay tuned for more.
