new Wario voice actor Kevin Afghani

Kevin Afghani was recently confirmed as the voice of Mario and Luigi, and unsurprisingly, it looks like he was cast as the actor for Wario as well.

That news comes from the credits in WarioWare: Move It, which has the character having new voice lines since Charles Martinet retired from the role. Afghani is listed as the game’s principle performer. Given how it was already announced that he’s the new voice actor for Mario and Luigi, the news about Wario doesn’t come as much of a surprise.

Martinet previously was behind Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Metal Mario, Shadow Mario, Mini-Mario Toys, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, and Baby Wario. In August, however, Nintendo announced that he would no longer be voicing characters in its games. Going forward he’ll now be serving as “Mario Ambassador” for the company.

You’ll be able to hear Afghani playing Wario when WarioWare: Move It launches on November 3, 2023. Fans can also pick up Super Mario Bros. Wonder to see how his performance turned out for Mario and Luigi.
