The 45-year-old actress paired with a warm brown trench coat and colorful sneakers for a walk around the city and a quick visit to the supermarket.
After passing the store, the mother-daughter duo were seen walking away with a large paper bag, which Holmes grabbed before 18-year-old Suri took it away.
Her departure comes a day after Suri returned to the Big Apple and joined her mother for fall break during her first semester at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.
The Dawson's Creek star wore a gray crewneck sweatshirt under her stylish outerwear and matching sweatpants for added comfort.

It comes a day after they reunited in New York City and were photographed running errands in the city during Suri's vacation from college.
Holmes shares Suri with her ex Tom Cruise, 62.
The teenager is currently studying fashion at a prestigious school and her estranged father pays her tuition of $65,000 a year.

Seven weeks into their relationship, the couple got engaged.
