Kate Richie has teased a return to Home and Away after sixteen years on her long-running Channel Seven soap.
The Nova radio star, 46, pointed to her role as Sally Fletcher, which she played for twenty years from 1988 to 2008, as a surprise return.
He revealed that the makers already contacted him several times to try to align him, but were mocked that he had not closed the door on the soap.
'[Producers] I stopped knocking but they told me the door was always open,” he told the Herald Sun.
“The idea of going back there and seeing everyone and working with all those actors again is not something I would want to do, it's just whether it makes sense anymore.”
Kate added that she wasn't sure if her character would fit in with Summer Bay's new residents or continue to connect with viewers.
'In the new audience they have, half of them don't know who Sally is. “I have a lot of work ahead of me, for being a mother and for life in general, much less giving up another job,” she added.
Kate was just eight years old when she rose to fame in 1988, playing Sally Fletcher in the soap opera Home and Away.

He's been on the show for 20 years and admits it's hard to find his own identity outside of his beloved character.
Despite winning two Gold Logies during her time on the show, Kate has previously said she questions her own worth.
“People wanted to meet me because of Sally, or I won awards or got invited to big events because of Sally,” Kate told Stellar in December 2017.
'When you can't remember your life without him, you suddenly ask yourself: “What's so attractive about him?”
Kate had sought therapy to deal with the issues, telling TV Week in March 2021: “I really felt like I had lost a big part of who I was.”

Since leaving Home and Away, Kate has only been involved in acting and has instead embarked on a successful career in radio.
In 2008, he had a small role in the second series of Underbelly, appearing in two episodes, and starred in Nine's 2010 police drama Cops LAC.
Kate spends most of her time on radio as co-host of Nova 96.9's popular breakfast show Fitzy and Whippa with Kate Ritchie.
