Quinn Ewers looks set to return to the quarterback position and compete for the top spot in the Texas Longhorns' rankings ahead of their showdown with No. 1. He was ranked No. 18 by the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday.
Ewers was injured during Texas' 56-7 victory over UTSA on Sept. 14 and missed the Longhorns' final two games.
Texas listed Ewers as probable on Wednesday's injury report, making it more likely that the star QB will return for the Red River Rivalry game.

Johnny Manziel talked about what Ewers needs to do on the Campus Podcast in a recent episode of “Ewers Must Do to Prepare for Return.”
“I think it's just about getting back on the field and getting him some practice reps. Of course, when you take some time off, it's always a bit of a struggle to get back into the swing of things, but this is one of those games, especially Texas-OU, you see it every year, does the spread even matter?” Manziel said.
“I mean, it's one of those games where you know anything can happen, so I think it's going to be important for Quinn this week just to get out there and get around the guys and get acclimated again. “I think they'll obviously be ready to play, but once again it's one of those games where every year it seems like there's got to be a lot of fireworks and a lot of uncertainty about how it's going to end.”

Arch Manning held everything in place for Ewers when he was injured. Manning threw four touchdowns on 12 passing yards after replacing Ewers in the Longhorns' victory over UTSA.
The Texas offense couldn't go without its top playmaker as Manning led the Longhorns to 86 points in his two starts in Ewers' absence.
In those two starts, Manning threw for 583 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Longhorns had their bye last week, and that's when Ewers started practicing with the hopes of being able to play against Oklahoma on Saturday.

In Ewers' last game, he led the Longhorns from start to finish to an impressive 31-12 road victory against the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines.
Since the start of last season, Texas is 16-1 in regular season games, with its only loss coming last season at Oklahoma.
When Texas and Oklahoma begin play on Saturday, it will be the 120th meeting between the teams. However, this will be the first match between these teams as part of their SEC membership. Texas and Oklahoma have spent the last 28 seasons apart in the Big 12.
