Aaron Rodgers Wednesday's record was set in the immediate wake of rumors surrounding the New York Jets' decision to part ways with head coach Robert Saleh following the team's recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Several reports speculated about Saleh's controversial departure, with some claiming he was fired. Jet's advantage safety and that Rogers himself had a hand in the coach's firing.
However, during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rogers called the latter report “blatantly false.”

“No matter how absurd these accusations are, I am not going to issue more than one sentence in response and I do not like any of these accusations because they are patently false.”
“It's interesting how much energy people think I have – which I don't, but I love Robert,” she continued.
Tuesday's report also indicated that owner Woody Johnson had spoken with Rodgers and the four-time league MVP the previous evening. Saleh had a hand in the shooting. But Rodgers said the “five-minute” call was more than just a check-up after he “sprained his ankle” following Sunday's game.

“Woody called me on Monday evening and we had a short conversation. I appreciated the conversation, it was a real conversation and he asked me how I was feeling,” he said before going into detail.
“We talked about the match and how disappointed I was with my performance, that I should have played better and we were going to turn it around and then we stopped. At this point Woody had no obligation to say who he was and what I was doing at that moment, I just appreciated the call that he was checking on me.
Asked about rumors that Jets players were shocked by the decision, Rodgers did not clearly answer.
“I think everyone felt sorry for Robert and worried about him.”

On Wednesday morning, Saleh broke his silence and thanked the players, coaching staff, organization and fans. He did not mention Johnson by name.
“To all the players: I truly love and appreciate each and every one of you. The character of the men in the locker room made coaching you an incredible opportunity. Through all the ups and downs, each of you has been there. Attack every day, every moment,” he said in part. “To my fellow coaches and staff: it has been an honor to work with all of you. Each of you was involved and sacrificed for each other, which we will never forget. I wish you all the best. for the rest of the season.”
Saleh was fired Tuesday morning after more than three seasons with the Jets. New York started 2-3 after back-to-back losses, but has a chance to take over first place in the league with Monday's victory. Bill Buffalo
