Jet Force Gemini Launches Onto Nintendo Switch Online In December

Nintendo has announced that Rare shooter Jet Force Gemini is heading to Nintendo Switch Online soon.

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Nintendo announces that the game will be coming to the service’s Expansion Pack addon “this December”.

Unfortunately, no more specific release date than that was announced, so we don’t know exactly when the game will be landing.

Jet Force Gemini has previously been made available via the Rare Replay compilation.

The Japanese Nintendo Switch Online service, however, is getting Jet Force Gemini (as well as GoldenEye 007, which the West already has) on November 30th.

As such, Jet Force Gemini might be on its way to the Western Switch Online library not too long afterwards. We’ll have to wait and see.

If you’re not familiar with Jet Force Gemini, it’s a third-person shooter originally released for the N64 in 1999.

The game revolves around a team of law enforcers who must battle a horde of deadly insects led by the dastardly Mizar. If you’re familiar with Earth Defense Force, you might feel at home here.

Jet Force Gemini is landing on Nintendo Switch Online in December.

Unlike EDF, however, Jet Force Gemini also places an emphasis on platforming; in addition to shooting aliens, you must also explore your environment by jumping, using your jetpack, and swimming, among other things.

Jet Force Gemini joins a range of other Nintendo 64 games on Nintendo Switch Online, including party game Mario Party 3, racer Excitebike 64, and legendary battler Pokemon Stadium.

The Expansion Pack addon, which you’ll need if you want to play N64 games, also grants access to Switch Online’s Genesis and Game Boy Advance libraries.

These include games like Kirby & the Amazing MirrorFire Emblem, and the Genesis version of Ghouls ‘n Ghosts

You can sign up to Nintendo Switch Online right now from your Switch console or via the official Nintendo website on your web browser. Stay tuned for more.
