In LEGO Fortnite, players uncovered a cool glitch that allowed them to completely restore their tools’ durability. But does it work anymore?
Does the Chest Durability Glitch work in LEGO Fortnite?
Unfortunately, the chest durability glitch was promptly patched by Epic Games. This is expected, considering it was a glitch and was certainly overpowered. However at the time of it being fixed, it was a pretty controversial change as it addressed an issue that Epic Games hadn’t spoken out about yet. That was, until, the 13th of December Patch.
The LEGO Fortnite community had been up in arms about the state of durability in the game, making it unplayable for some as it was such a frustration. However, Epic Games has fixed this issue, by buffing all tools’ durability by +30%. So this glitch is no longer needed.
The glitch may be gone, but at least Epic Games has listened to the community and has put in a worthy substitute. The increase of durability will go a long way – although not all players are happy, suggesting that sort of way to repair the tools is also needed. For now at least, I’m happy with the swap.

How the Chest Durability Glitch worked in LEGO Fortnite
Before the patch, the chest durability glitch was a really simple one to pull off, which made it attractive to players.
In LEGO Fortnite, upon breaking a chest with items inside, everything gets dropped, which is pretty standard. However, any tools that were in a chest would be dropped with maximum durability, no matter how damaged they were.
That effectively meant that you could only make one tool and bring enough planks for a chest, and you would have an infinitely renewable weapon.
Sure, the glitch was a little over-powered, however it was something to combat the insane durability rate for tools at the time.
Now, however, chests seem to function a little differently. I’m unsure if it’s a bug or a feature, but chests no longer seem to drop all of their content upon breaking them. Any tools they spit out do retain their current durability, but that’s if they drop the tools at all.
You’ll have to be very careful now, otherwise your precious loot and hard-earned tools will disappear, much like the glitch did.
Despite the durability being a huge problem, there is a way to reduce this nuisance in-game.
