Following the highly successful release of Insomniac Games’s Spidey sequel, more details are now starting to surface on another upcoming superhero-centric entry in Marvel’s Wolverine. Though an actual launch window for the Weapon X-led project is yet to be provided, Spider-Man 2 director Bryan Intihar has revealed a crucial tidbit that gives fans more insight into what they can expect once the game does eventually get released.
Ahead of the game’s alleged Fall 2024 launch window, Intihar revealed that Wolverine will take place in the same universe as Spider-Man 2 in an interview with Kinda Funny Games. In it, the sequel’s director simply said: “They’re all [Earth]-1048,” indicating that Insomniac Games’s versions of Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and James Howlett all reside in the same timeline.
This means that you could eventually be treated to a few more superheroic Easter Eggs, much like Spider-Man 2’s Nelson and Murdock law firm sign in Hell’s Kitchen. There may even be a few appearances from both webheads once Marvel’s Wolverine gets released, though you’ll need to take this with a heaping amount of salt for the time being, as this has yet to be confirmed by the developers.
Unfortunately, with the game’s official launch still seemingly far off, Insomniac Games may not be planning on confirming these details or providing additional information any time soon. Luckily, the fantastic narrative of Spider-Man 2 helps soften the blow of having to wait indefinitely for the release of Marvel’s Wolverine.
