The Samsung Circle to Search function is a handy tool that makes searching for something even easier. It works by long-pressing the home button and then simply circling whatever you want to search, and most owners of flagship devices will already know how convenient this function is. However, the tech giant is now planning to bring this clever way of searching the web to all of its devices in its August update. The rollout of this innovative search function enables all supported devices to search for something without the need to leave your current application or activity.
Circle to Search was initially introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 back in January, and following its immense popularity the function was then delivered to older flagship devices. After just six months, Samsung recently declared that Circle to Search is coming to more of its mid-range phones and devices.
The initial announcement from Samsung only confirmed the rollout on selected Galaxy A series phones and Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablets, but even more devices are due to receive this function according to Samsung’s press release. This means that Circle to Search will appear on over 25 million Galaxy phones and tablets on a worldwide basis.
Meanwhile, Google has been working with Samsung to make the Circle to Search tool even more intuitive, including a recent introduction of Song Search. This will enable you to identify music playing on your device, or out loud within range of the device’s ability to pick up audio, without needing Google Assistant or the likes of the Shazam app. There are also rumored plans to bring a QR scan tool to Circle to Search, although this isn’t available just yet and we’ve not heard any further updates regarding this new feature.
We’re curious to see what other flagship-exclusive tools and functions might make an appearance on mid-range models, and we’d love to see an upgrade to the already pretty impressive Live AI Translation tool. For now, we’re eagerly awaiting the release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. With an expected launch coming early next year, we’re keen to see whether it matches up to the iPhone 16 due in the autumn.
